I have found my lost Deans and Dotsons. I am so excited. They were in Dekalb County Alabama all along. They had my William Dotsons last name as Williams. And my Wallace Oliver Dean looked like his last name was Bem. but they were in Crumly, Dekalb County, Alabama. I just wanted to let yaw know i know that the census taker had to have made some kinda mistake. Thanks for all of yaws help.
Congratulations! I'm so very glad that you had the perseverance to bite the bullet and do the page-by-page search that is many times necessary in order to find your unindexed/misindexed folks. We could have checked the index for days and never found them looking for Dotson and Dean, and yours is just one example of the multitude of errors that were made in census records - not only by the census taker, but by the informant(s) and (due to poor penmanship) the indexer, as well. Glad you were able to find them, and you should definitely enjoy the thrill of making such an awesome discovery as well as the satisfaction of having done it on your own. Way to go!
