    1. Re: [AL-CEN] Mary Roberts
    2. I'm going to pass on what little I found but I think you will have to pursue this on the Texas Lookup List. I haven't run across any Alabama connection except for that Mary R. Spillers in Brown Co, TX I sent earlier. 1) Barney Goble is in the same county as Lucy Hill Jones in 1920. He is married with children. He is still married to the same wife in 1930 and has moved to Reagan Co, TX. If Lucy married him it would almost have to be after her marriage to Harper Spillers. 2) Found a Harper Spillers in Freestone Co, TX in 1900 1900 Freestone Co, TX, JP 6, ED 39 Fannie Spillers 36 widow TX TN LA farmer, 4 kids, 4 living Vera 16 TX TX TX at schol Harper 14 TX TX TX farm laborer Davis 13 TX TX TX farm laborer Henry 12 TX TX TX farm laborer 3) I suspect there is some connection between this family and William Harper Spillers (b.abt 1808 KY) who is in Freestone Co during 1860-1880. There also are a couple of messages at rootsweb.com relating to his children's names. 4) Found this birth record. Francis Louise Spillers born 8/3/1933 in Palo Pinto Co, TX. Father is William Harper Spillers. Mother is Lucy Francis Hill. 5) Can not find Lucy in 1930 by any of the last names you have mentioned. 3. I appreciate your efforts in doing the look-ups, for me. I do plan on pursuing this further. The names, dates, and places will be very valuable information. I will continue on the Texas look-up site. Up until about a month ago....that is before Hurricanes Katrina and Rita....I did not know what my great grandpa Ferdinand Hammond Hill's father's name was. I called the Palo Pinto County Clerk in Texas. I told her who I was and ask if on his death certificate it listed his mother and father. She told me his mother's name was Martha Ford, father's name unknown. I had known that his mother's name was Martha nothing on his father's name. I then told the clerk that Ferd Hill had a brother,John Hill, that died, and I had the date of his death. [I had gone to the cemetery with my dad and he wrote Uncle John's information from his tombstone] She looked at his death record and guess what?....it listed his father's name as James and his mother Martha A. Ford. None of the living grandchildren of Ferd Hill knew the name of their great grandfather and I was the one who found it. They were from Alabama. So even if Wm H. Spillers does not have the Alabama connection grandpa Hill does. I also have a cousin in Pell City. Thank you so much for all the look-ups that you have done. I appreicate all the volunteers efforts and the service that they provide. Especially for folks like me that are still in the learning stages. Sincerely, Jean P. S. The Francis Louise Spillers was my aunt and Lucy, my grandmother. I met Barney when I was a child and have a copy of his obituary. ----- Original Message ----- From: <wmcconne@bellsouth.net> To: <AL-CENSUS-LOOKUP-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, September 27, 2005 4:58 PM Subject: Re: [AL-CEN] Mary Roberts > I'm going to pass on what little I found but I think you will have to > pursue this on the Texas Lookup List.
