Although I should be more familiar with my Texas counties than I am, Navaro County is not very far from Brown County. My grandmother Lucy Hill Jones Rice Spillers spent quite a bit of time around Brown County. Her grandmother lived there and also many other relatives. It would be quite possible that she could have met William Harvey in Brown Co., TX My grandmother never talked much about her last husband. I never knew when they married. I assumed it was in or around Mingus, TX[Palo Pinto Co.,] or Erath Co., but then again it could have been Brown Co., I know that she married my grandfather Lola Dean Jones in Brown Co.,. I do hope that William Harvey Spillers family[any brothers or sisters] can be located in some way. I appreciate what the rootsweb lookup volunteers do. I am not sure about another generation between...I am just going by the names on William Harvey's death certificate. Before 2000, when I obtained his death certificate, I had nothing more than a name from his daughter. She passed away 6 months ago from alzheimers, and he died when she was about 4 or 5. I will take a look at the names of the two married daughters and maybe they are a connection. I have been lucky with other mysteries so will give this a try as well. Thanks.....and I never give up! Keep me posted if you find any more clues. Jean, I ran across another possibility. Or maybe it's the same one? There is a Harvey Spillers who lived in Robertson Co, TX in 1920 and 1930. Married to Lena M. but it appears they had no children. He is the son of Henry L. Spillers who is in Brazos Co, TX in 1880 and 1900 and is in Tuscaloosa Co, AL in 1860 and 1870. The 1880 censustaker has confused the issue as to who are Henry's wives. In 1860 and 1870, he is married to Manora or Mayrina. In 1880, I think he is a widower. In 1900 he is married to Lou E. Henry had a son William H. Spillers b abt 1851 AL who would be a brother to the Harvey I mentioned earlier. In 1880, I believe William H. is married to an Allise. I can't be for sure whether this is his wife or Henry's but I think it's his. I was never able to find this William H. after 1880 and it's entirely possible that he also had a son named William Harvey Spillers in the 1880's. I just can't find any such person. There are a number of Mary's in Brazos Co, TX born abt 1838 in AL. but none are Roberts. If Roberts was her maiden name and she's in her 40's in 1880 then she's probably been married before and has another last name. I think you mentioned Lucy Hill Jones Rice Spillers before but not in connection with this lookup. Are you saying that she was the wife of William Harvey Spillers? Which one of her husbands would she have been married to in 1930? I think you said that William Harvey Spillers died in 1938? I apologize to you....I have to correct myself again. The correct name of my step grandfather is William HARPER Spillers. [I have called him Harvey which is incorrect] Lucy was married to Lola Dean Jones, June 23, 1913, they had one son Everett Jones, born May 28, 1916. Lucy was married to Harvey Anderson Rice about 1920? they had one son Harry Leo Rice born March 17, 1923 in Altus, OK. Lucy was married to William HARPER Spillers about 1931?, they had one daughter Francis Louise Spillers. These were Lucy Hill's only children. It was believed that she also was married to Barney McCoy Goble about 1926? It could have been after she was married to Spillers, but all my life she went by Spillers. William HARPER Spillers was born July 22, 1886 in Navaro Co., TX. He died January 21, 1938, Erath Co., TX His father was William Henry Spillers, birthplace Navaro Co., TX His mother was Mary Roberts, birthplace Navaro Co., TX. [I am quoting from William Harper's death certificate] I may have confused myself as well as everyone else with so many Henry's, Harper's, and Harvey's. Thank you for your assistance...I hope my correction will help. I also know that William Harper Spillers was a ferrier in the US Calvery in WWI.
