    2. Dear Linda, Zacariah (Zachary) T. (Taylor) Parton/ Partin etc. was born abt 1848 in TN. His race was white. I have the following info on him: PARTIN, Zacariah T. wed Adelade ALEXANDER 14 Mar 1872 by Adolphus M. Ezell, MG 15 Mar 1872 The wife's maiden name is Mary Adelade Alexander. - - - - - - - - 1880 Giles Co TN Census, District 11 Parton, Zachary T. W M 31 (b. 1849) works in wood shop TN unk TN , M. H. (or A.) wife 33 (b 1851) keeping house TN SC SC , M. H. (or A.) son 05 (b. 1875) all TN , L. H. dau 04 (b. 1876) all TN , F. M. dau 02 (b. 1878 all TN - - - - - - - A descendant said he moved with his family from Giles Co TN to Montgomery, AL. around the turn of the century. Perhaps it would be better to try to find them on a census more recent than 1900 first. What do you suggest, Linda? Would it be better to try to find them on the 1930 Census first? Any advice welcome. Thanks for your help. (Taylor) Parton / Partin (Parten, Pardon, Pardin, Parden, Partain, any spelling) family. This Partin family has been found under all these spellings!! Would like to know the names and ages of everyone in the household. Is there an occupation listed for the head of this family? Thank you for any help. What else do you know about him? Factors such as his race, as well as his year and place of birth might help me to locate him. Linda in Georgia

    3. Joy, I tried later years and still couldn't find him - until I found that they were living in Jefferson County instead of Montgomery. Birmingham, Alabama Directories - 1888-1890 1888 - Zachary T. Partin Location - Smithers Blvd., 4 e of Thomas, Smithfield Occupation - Blacksmith 1889 - Zachary T. Partin Location - 2101 1st Street Avenue r N. Birmingham, Birmingham, AL Occupation - Horseshoer 1890 - Zachariah T. Partin Location - 2101 1st Street Avenue r N. Birmingham, Birmingham, AL Occupation - Blacksmith I never did find Zachary in 1900's census, but found Adelaide and the children, still in Birmingham. I don't know if Zack died prior to the census, or was living someplace else, but I didn't find him indexed anywhere in Alabama. 1900 Jefferson county, Alabama - Precinct 21 - Birmingham, Ward 6 - June 5, 1900 - page 194 419 South 24th Street 111 - Parton, Mary A., head; Dec 1843, age 56; married/28 years; 5 children/4 living; TN NC NC; renting house Lillie H., dau; Jun 1875, age 24, single; TN TN TN Farre M. F., dau; May 1878, age 22; single; TN TN TN Steel M., son; Jun 1884, age 15; TN TN TN No occupation is shown for anyone in the household, but it appears that there were six unrelated boarders and lodgers living in the house at the time of the census. I would assume that Adelaide, Lillie and Farrah probably supported the family by providing room and board. Good luck!
