It may be that his family wasn't in Mobile in 1850 or was missed by the census taker, or mis-indexed by the indexing system. Would you like to request a lookup for him in the 1870 Mobile County census? yes, I am not sure how long they stayed in Mobile Alabama. Maybe they moved after 1840. Who knows.
