    1. Re: [AL-CEN] 1850 Mobile Census
    2. Doc, I have senior moments as well. If that's your Patrick, he is there 1860 through at least 1900...I didn't look any further. The 1900 is interesting. It shows that both Patrick and Margaret came to America in 1846. The question is where did they enter. The 1900 gives another interesting clue. A daughter is shown (widowed) living with them and her birthplace is shown as New York. In one of the earlier records she is shown as born in Alabama. 3. I did see that in 1880 as a possibility, but parents' birth places are listed as GA and that is incorrect, but then it could have been added incorrectly in that census. I suppose if Mary was a widow in 1880, then Huggins is another married name. 3. Thank you for trying to find her - she may be in the household with her husband (I'm thinking it's someone named Bird, and Huggins is her maiden name or 1st mrriage) in 1910 or she may be deceased. She's in the household in 1900, at age 55, with her daughter, Julia Jones, and grandchildren, Geneva, Maud, Cecil, and Leo. I couldn't find her at all in 1880 on the LDS site. 3. No, I'm not certain she's still alive in 1910 - that was one thing I wanted to figure out. She was born about 1845, so she may not be. She is living in 1900 because she's in the household with her daughter, Julia Jones, and grandchildren, Geneva, Cecil, Maud, Leo. The other thing I was trying to determine is her maiden name - if it is Huggins or Bird, I'm thinking it's Huggins...and who she was married to. Maybe I need to try an earlier census...but I couldn't find her in 1880 on LDS. Thanks for all of your help. 3. Mary, 1830 is the earliest currently-surviving federal census for Alabama. Indexed in 1830 are William in Madison County, and Dixon and Joseph in Mobile. 1830 Madison County, Alabama - Range 1 & 2 - Roll 4/page 87 William Wainwright - 2300001 - 001001 (2 free white males aged under 5, 3 aged 5-10, 1 aged 40-50 - 1 free white female aged 10-15, 1 aged 30-40) The only listings shown for a Sam or Samuel Wainwright in earlier census years is one indexed in 1800 New Haven, CT, and in 1810 and 1820 in Vermont. I suspect that your Samuel Wainwright was living during those years in one of the states for which the census enumeration was lost or destroyed.
