    3. From the cemetery records, we know that Wade's birth date is 2/12/1821, but I do know that in the 1860 census of Pike county it shows him as 31 instead of 39. Could you tell me who's in the 1870 census with him - should be his 2nd wife. Thanks. 1. Re: [AL-CEN] Pike/1850/Wade H. Adams
    2. Melissa, I see no clear cut winner. You have Wade born in 1821, the 1860 census says 1829 and the 1870 census says 1824. It would make sense if he is the son of one of the Adams of Pike or Montgomery county but the only one I can find in this birth range is in South Carolina. Father is Steuben or Sterlin - mother is Nancy. There is a Wade H. Adams in Montgomery co in 1850 possibly old enough to be you Wade's father but the oldest child living with them is John W. born abt 1831. This age for John is confirmed by the 1870 census record. 3. Yes thank you, Terry, That first one has been very confusing also because Thomas C. Slattery died in December of 1865, which meant they were only married for about 11 months, and Josephine had two children by the name of Slattery. Family records indicated that she was married to a Francis Albert Slattery. Then there's the big question I have about Abraham Keller also being incorrect. I'll have to check into that further. 1. Re: [AL-CEN] 1900/Montgomery/HINDERER
    2. Terry, I have been looking for records of my grandparents marriage, with no luck. What do you do to find them at the LDS ? Also, since they were married in Alabama, would I need to check in Montgomery? I know they married 1917/1918, supposedly in Gadsden, Etowah Co. She was from St. Clair Co., but there is no record of them there, nor Calhoun Co. 1. Re: [AL-CEN] Conecuh/1850/Shaw
    2. I should have given you the 1860 - I didn't find them in 1870. 1860 Butler Co, AL, 3rd pct, page 146 D. D. Shaw 31 FL farmer M. E. 22 GA M. E. 2 AL? There is a family tree for the Daniel D. Shaw that I gave you the 1850 census record for at: http://wc.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=allyall&id=I2525 I am wondering if you assumed that Martha was a Harrison because of the Nancy Harrison living with them in 1880? Or do you have a marriage record showing that Martha was a Harrison. In either case I guess it could have been her second marriage as well as Daniel's so she could have been a Harrison and/or a Hobbs as the family tree shows. I'm not entirely convinced that the first marriage for Daniel shown in that family tree actually existed for several reasons. 3. Melissa, Look for a recorded marriage license in Montgomery County - don't rely on personal submissions to the LDS. The marriage to Abe Keller is possible, timewise, of course, but may have not lasted for a very long time. A lot happened in those days in the ways of births and deaths in a ten year period. As for being enumerated as Slattery in 1870, she may have simply reverted to that surname because she had Slattery children. ----- Original Message ----- From: Melissa Parker To: AL-CENSUS-LOOKUP-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Sunday, August 14, 2005 10:11 AM Subject: Re: [AL-CEN] 1900/Montgomery/HINDERER Thanks a lot, Linda. 3. Melissa, Josephine was married to Fritz Hinderer on the 1880 Montgomery County census, and no, there's no surviving 1890 census for Montgomery, to my knowledge. In 1880 you will find them listed in Montgomery County, City of Montgomery, and I am sure you already know that the 1880 census is online and free at the LDS website, http://www.familysearch.org In 1880 Josephine is shown as age 30, born in Alabama; her parents born in Switzerland and Baden (Ger). In that census year, Fritz and Josephine are shown with four children: Mary, age 15, (who I am sure should be Mary Slattery, and the same as the Mary shown as age 4 in 1870) Charley, age 6; Jacob, age 5; and Josephine, age 3. By 1900, it appears that both Fritz and Josephine had died, because four of the Hinderer children are shown in the household of their uncle, Jacob (Jake) Sutter: 1900 Montgomery County, Alabama - Precinct 5 - Montgomery City, Ward 5 - June 9, 1900 - ED 107/Sheet 14B 513 Madison Avenue 338 - Sutter, Jake, head; Feb 1852, age 48; single; AL GER SWIT; grocer; house (owns? rents?) Hinderer, Mary, niece; May 1870, age 30; single; AL GER AL Josephine, niece; Jul 1877, age 22; single; AL GER AL Frederick, nephew; Jun 1880, age 19; single; AL GER AL; clerk/grocery store Edward, nephew; Nov 1884, age 15; AL GER AL; clerk/fish company I hope this helps you get Josephine's marriages in order. Josephine was not with Abraham Keller in 1870 - she was in a census with her parents and siblings and listed as Josephine Slattery. Abraham Keller was supposed to have been her 2nd husband, but I really can't find room for him. Fritz Hinderer was supposed to be her 3rd husband, so I was wondering if someone could check the 1900 census for Montgomery for the family of Fritz Hinderer, born abour 1835, and wife Josephine. By the way, is there an 1890 census for Montgomery? Thank you very much for your help. 3. Thanks Linda, that is possible that she did revert back to Slattery because she didn't have any children with Keller, or the info on the LDS site was wrong. I will be researching that marriage further. I appreciate your help. 3. Thanks a lot, Linda. Josephine was supposed to have married Francis Slattery 1st and she was listed as Josephine Slattery in an 1870 census, but she was in the home of her mother, so I thought perhaps Francis had died by then because on the LDS site, it says that Josephine Slattery married Abraham Keller in Montgomery, Alabama, on 8/29/1867, but I can't find any record of that marriage other than that....and why wouldn't she be listed in that 1870 census as Josephine Keller? Then she married Fritz Hinderer on 5/2/1872. I'm just wondering if the info about Abraham Keller is wrong. Oh well, the search continues.
