Hi Deborah, I can read William F. Tolbert clearly on my HeritageQuest Online copy. He's on page 224A with his wife and 11 children. Do you want me to transcribe a copy or send you a .pdf copy of the page itself? Yes, often it is just hard to read & the person that transcribed it may see it differently then what it may say, not to mention the fact that the census tahkers weren't always the most accurate either.. There spelling could be off or they may not write as well as others, or it might not even be info given FROM the family, could have been a neighbor or who knows what.... That is why you can't use the census info alont to prove your research... There are three Rebecca Burleson's in Al in 1850. Two are unmarried children and one is married to James Burleson in Morgan County. Approximate ages are always helpful. I'm looking for the family of Arthur E. (Emery) Robertson, white, born 12/29/1913-died 7/31/1992, last residence was Mobile. He was last seen in the 1920 Covington County, Alabama Census with his parents, but this family is not in Covington County in 1930, so perhaps Arthur struck out on his own at a young age. Thanks for any help. Melissa
That is probably him and the 1886 in the census is incorrect. Thanks so much for the find! I don't see the rest of the family in 1930. But I'm still trying to answer your 1910 question. If that is the right Charles in CA in 1930, then we know he served in WWI and that his birth year is 1892 instead of the 1886 implied by the 1920 census record. There is a Charles Arthur Robertson who fits. His WWI registration card says he registered in Muskogee, OK on 6/5/1917. The card also says that he was born in Springfield, MO. His birthdate is 6/25/1892. The following family was in Springfield, MO in 1900. 1910 Muskogee, OK, 4-th ward Muskogee, page 183, ED 120, sht 5A W. G. Robertson 58 M2 MO MO MO attorney - law Sarah E. Thanks, that's the family. Someone else found Charles Robertson in 1930 in National Military home in Los Angeles, CA. I looked that up and found that in 1930, servicemen were not recorded with their families; instead they were treated as residents of their duty posts - so if you're looking for someone in the military, they won't necessarily be listed in their hometown in 1930. I didn't know Charles was in the military, but his age, birth place, etc. fits. Perhaps the rest of his family was still in Covington County in 1930 - his wife, Agnes, daughter Letie, and son, Arthur.
