Yes, often it is just hard to read & the person that transcribed it may see it differently then what it may say, not to mention the fact that the census tahkers weren't always the most accurate either.. There spelling could be off or they may not write as well as others, or it might not even be info given FROM the family, could have been a neighbor or who knows what.... That is why you can't use the census info alont to prove your research... I looked that up and found that in 1930, servicemen were not recorded with their families; instead they were treated as residents of their duty posts - so if you're looking for someone in the military, they won't necessarily be listed in their hometown in 1930. I didn't know Charles was in the military, but his age, birth place, etc. fits.
