Was wondering if any records exist on a Mary Roberts born abt 1838 in Alabama. She was married to a William Henry Spillers birth date unknown. They had one known son William Harvey Spillers b. 22 July 1886 in Navarro Co., TX and he died 21 January 1938 in TX.
I hope some kind soul can help me with this. I need a lookup of Miles (Milas, Milus) HELMS (HELEMS, HELMES) in 1860 Russell County, AL. (Milas Helems in the Southern Division, Russell Co. AL., Post Office: Oswichee, Page: 929. ) Thanks mucho in advance. Walt Boswell hogdu26@knology.net
I'm looking for Arthur Emery Robertson anywhere in the state in 1930. He was born in 1913 so would be about 16 or 17 in that census. He and his parents, Charles Arthur Robertson and step mother Agnes were in Covington County, Alabama in 1920. After that I cannot find Arthur. In SSDI his last known residence was Mobile, Alabama. He has a sister named Letie B. Robertson born about 1911 - perhaps she can be found in 1930? I do not know if she was married at that time nor do I know if she ever married. Arthur and Letie's mother was Mattie Adams born in 1888 and died in 1914. Thank you for any help. Melissa
I agree with the below suggestion. I could not pinpoint your g-g-grandparents James Campbell and his wife Margaret on any census records other than 1850, but I did find them on the 1850 census in Anderson County, SC. That record states that they were each born in SC. They are listed with 6 children in their household. -----Original Message----- From: wmcconne@bellsouth.net [mailto:wmcconne@bellsouth.net] Sent: Monday, September 12, 2005 6:53 PM To: AL-CENSUS-LOOKUP-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [AL-CEN] Re: Bird Look at this family tree: http://wc.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=allison1&id=I127234 It doesn't answer all your questions but maybe you can share notes with the person who created this tree. Irene, I'd like to help you, but I don't know how I can do that with a census lookup. The earliest census I have for Alabama is 1830 and there are about 30 Bird and Byrd heads of household indexed in Alabama for that census year. I didn't check, but I would guess that there are at least twice as many Campbells. Because no one except the head of household in each family is named, Margaret won't be listed in the household of her parents, except as a number in the "free white females aged between 10 and 15 years" column. Cullman County wasn't formed until 1877. Would you like to look up the counties for Wedowee and Gadsden and request an 1830 census lookup for Bird/Byrds in those counties (one county at a time please)? Sorry I can't help without more information. Ray, I think it was a state wide census, but I do not know if it is still available for all counties. I happened upon an index for Lawrence County heads of household at http://www.rootsweb.com/~allawren/census/1866.htm and was hoping that someone on the List might have access to a transcription of the actual entries for Lawrence Co. Deborah, This is a simple linking error as well as an omission of data. Ancestry has linked the incorrect image, showing you Precinct 18, STERLING, ED 17, Sheet 4B. (page 214B) Look at the index information shown for William F. Tolbert in Cherokee County, ELLIS Township. It tells you that the information is on page 224A. Normally, all you would need to do would be to locate the correct page number (224) instead of the linked page (214). In this case, however, the page numbers at Ancestry only go up to 216 and those higher page numbers have apparently not been loaded nor linked. You might want to send them a report that the Ellis precinct images are missing from their Cherokee County database. Just tell them that they furnish no pages after page number 216, and that you are specifically needing page 224, ED 18/Sheet 5A (the sheet containing the information for William Tolbert). In the meantime, you might want to request that someone do a transcription for you. We can do the lookup at Heritage Quest, but their census images are copyrighted by ProQuest and we aren't allowed to share the image itself. Good luck!
