    3. He and his two brothers, Needham and Wiley, left their parents and SC for Pike Co., AL., in about 1837 according to two Adams researchers who have been doing this a lot longer than I have. The Adams boys would probably be hard to find in any census during the first years they were in AL., however, because they were on the run a good bit in their moonshining business. Just thought it was worth a try. ----- Original Message ----- From: <wmcconne@bellsouth.net> To: <AL-CENSUS-LOOKUP-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, September 23, 2005 7:44 PM Subject: Re: [AL-CEN] 1850/Pike County/Adams > I'm not sure why you dismiss the one in SC in 1850. 1. Re: [AL-CEN] 1850/Pike County/Adams
    2. I'm not sure why you dismiss the one in SC in 1850. Yes, there are two of them there but the other one is much too old to be yours. And there is another one in Montgomery Co, AL but he's way too old as well. The one you referred to in 1860 is most likely not married in 1850. His wife is only 21 and the kids are less than 5 yrs old. And you know he was born in SC. Just because the SC one was recorded in 1850 in SC doesn't mean that he couldn't have been in AL shortly after. 1. Re: [AL-CEN] Harvey Anderson Rice
    2. Jean, Sorry about my earlier post which referred to Henry instead of Harvey. I had Henry "on the brain". I found Lucy in the census records in 1910 and 1920. In 1920 she is living with her parents and siblings and she has a son Everett Jones. I was never able to find her in 1930. Everett was still living with Lucy's parents in 1930. According to one post at ancestry.com, Harvey and Lucy had a son named Harry Leo Rice in 1923 in Jackson Co, OK. However I can find none of them in 1930. The Anderson Rice that Howard found in 1880 apears to be Pink A. Rice in later census records and lives in Alabama at least through 1930. I find no Harvey, Anderson, H, A or H. A.. Rice in any census record who could possibly fit. This usually means that the first name or last name is incorrect. It's possible that Harvey went by a nickname or an alias. It's also possible that he was not born in AL (although I looked for him with other birthplaces) or that his name was Harry like their son. I assume someone has found a death certificate or something that led you to the name Harvey Anderson Rice. David Gilliam wrote: > Dear List, > > I am looking for information on my step grandfather Harvey Anderson Rice. He was born about 1875 in Alabama. He married my grandmother Lucy Francis Hill Jones, about 1920 in either Texas or Oklahoma.
