Looking for Mary S. R. Harper, born in AL in 1841, in Montgomery city 1900 census. Might also be called Mrs. A. S. Harper. Household might include Joseph Lewis Harper, born after 1880, or George C. Harper born around 1870. I believe they lived on Clayton St.. She and her son Joseph are listed in the 1895 Montgomery City dirrectory, George C. is listed in an earlier (1890?) dirrectory, and he worked for A&M railway. I have Ancestry.com census images, so even an index listing would help me out. Thanks so much for your help! Polly
I haven't been able to find your folks in the AL 1900 census. Found two Jessie Wallace's but one was single, boarding and the other didn't have any of the other names you list and wasn't the right age. Can anyone help me re info on a JOHNSTON family in Washington Co., Al., in the 1850 or 1860 census? I do not know the father's name, but the family would include a daughter, Clara JOHNSTON, born about 1840. Many thanks to anyone who could help trace this with the limited info I have available.
Im glad someone brought it up. I would be very interested in purchasing Ala. Census books of 1910 or 1920 if they do exist?? Cant seem to get anywhere locating anything on the Images thing. Thanks Wyn
Hi, The only R. Benson listed in the AL 1900 census is R. B. Benson and his wife (whose name I couldn't decipher, but am sure isn't Sarah) in Cherokee Co. It was a much longer name starting with "L". these folks had been married only 11 years, so couldn't have had a son old enough to be married by 1914. One of their children was named Robert, but he was 1 year old in 1900. Hi folks once again and God Bless America! Searching, desperately, for any info on Robert G. Manning Sr. or R.G. Manning Sr. b 1780 GA and wife Dicey b 1785 GA. Think they came from somewhere in GA and ended up in Mississippi Territory (part of early AL) then moved on to Santa Rosa Co. FL by 1818 or 1819. Robert G. Manning Sr. and Dicey and family found on 1850 Santa Rosa Co. FL census with William, Mary; next door R. G. Manning Jr and Elzenie (b AL abt 1826) with Dicey, Mary and Robert. Please tell me these names and dates ring a bell with anyone. I truly believe that they were in Madison or Monroe county AL in or around 1815 and then moved on to FL. Census data from FL says that William was born in FL in 1818. Thanks for any help. Susan

Second, send the command "subscribe" to AL-CENSUS-LOOKUP-D-request@rootsweb.com to start receiving digests. Good Luck in your research and enjoy the lists ;) CENSUS-LOOKUP Lists were Established 11 October 2000 Guidelines for posting to the lists: EMAIL SUBJECT LINES: COUNTY,YEAR,SURNAME NO FLAMING or you will be unsubbed without notice. By this I mean not only being rude or mean to each other but there will be NO and I do mean NO debating here about the Census Projects. This list is for everyone who wants to research. NO General requests such as "all Smiths in all counties" Be specific, Name the County, Family you are looking for and also the year. Try to supply as much info as possible. All lists are XX-CENSUS-LOOKUP-L-request@rootsweb.com (regular mode) XX-CENSUS-LOOKUP-D-request@rootsweb.com (digest mode) The XX is to be removed and the two letter abbreviation for the state you are looking in added in its place. Examples: MI-CENSUS-LOOKUP-L-request@rootsweb.com CA-CENSUS-LOOKUP-L-request@rootsweb.com IL-CENSUS-LOOKUP-L-request@rootsweb.com 2.
