I would just like to thank the lady who went "Above and beyond the call of duty" to help me find some information. I have a long way to go in researching all the names she laboriously typed up for me, but this kind lady helped open a door that I thought was glued shut! May God Bless you for your kindness to strangers, even ones with 'not much information to go on'! Sincerely, Denise _________________________________________________________________ Join the worlds largest e-mail service with MSN Hotmail. http://www.hotmail.com
Hi, can someone help look for John A. CAMERON, b. abt 1817 in NC? He should definitely be in the 1850 and possibly in the 1860 census for AL. For 1850, he should have sons Thomas, about 13, and John, abt 3. By 1860, I assume that son Thomas is away from home, but there should be John, about 13, and another son, Henry C., abt 8. All sons were born in AL. I am guessing that they would be near Barbour, Conecuh, or Monroe, but it is only a guess! Any help gratefully appreciated! Thanks Zou Feagin zfeagin@aol.com
Denise, I don't want to embarress you, but after all, you are here to learn. People on this list are exceptionally helpful, if you "SHARE" enough information to let them. I have 18 Joseph Whites, but without some kind of date it is rather hopeless, as I don't have too many wives listed for them, and no Louisa. My Whites were in Ala and I would be glad to look again with more information. Who knows? You might even give me something I can use! <G> The more you give, the more you are likely to receive. I know this isn't a Census question but can someone tell me where ALCO was located in Escambia County. The Town was incorporated in 1895 but can not find reference to it now. I am still trying to find D C Mims and he was one of the petitioners requesting to incorporate "Alco". Thanks for any information you can provide... Pat Patterson, Southaven, MS
According to Yale Peabody Museum-GNIS http://www.peabody.yale.edu/other/gnis/AL.html ALCO BAPTIST CHURCH : church : Escambia : 310608N 0870526W : Brewton South ALCO UNITED METHODIST CHURCH : church : Escambia : 310550N 0870508W : Brewton South Additionally if you go to http://geonames.usgs.gov/pls/gnis/web_query.gnis_web_query_form type in Alco as the place name and AL as the State it will pull up the Alco Post Office which is listed as historical. Unfortunately it doesn't pull a map for it. However it will for the Alco Churches listed I believe. You will need to click on the Feature Name of one of the Churches I believe it gives you several different options of maps. Hope this helps Marie Beckman http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~rmbeckman/leaves.html >To: AL-CENSUS-LOOKUP-L@rootsweb.com >Subject: [AL-CEN] Al-Census-Lookup-Escambia County > > >I know this isn't a Census question but can someone tell me where ALCO was >located in Escambia County.
