Could you please check to see if a JAMES R. THOMPSON (possibly just listed as Jim Thompson) can be found living in Cleburne County, AL during the 1900 census? His wife's name was Mary (or Sarah Mary) and should have at least one child named Ambrose, possibly also a child named Brewer C. Thompson. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Jane

I do noy have the 1880 Census, but they are listed in 1870 on page 103B. Of course that census doesn't give the parents birthplace. Morgan Co Genealogy society has issued the 1880 census in the formof a book. You might contact them. Would someone who has the 1860 census for Pickens county check for Joseph (James) (JA) Mabry. In the "Bennerson" (should read Davison,) Mabry household Joseph James is listed and may be our grandparent but is there any other Joseph Mabry listed? Thanks. Appreciate your important work for those of us far away from Alabama.

I would very much appreciate a lookup for Talladega Co., AL for the ROE or ROWE surname, in particular for Abe C. Roe/Rowe and William P. Roe/Rowe in 1840 and 1850. These two brothers married two Boaz/Boaze (Elizabeth and Agnes) sisters from AL and I suspect they probably met and married them in or around Talladega Co. where some of their older children were born before they moved on to northeast Texas. I suspect there may be a number of Boaz households as well in the are during this time. Your help is appreciated. Thank you. Jackie Hill Bower

I had to do the same exact thing - inform the bank, copy ancestry - at least two weeks in advance! ----- Original Message ----- From: Greg And Winnette Sent: Wednesday, January 16, 2002 9:00 AM To: AL-CENSUS-LOOKUP-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [AL-CEN] Offer from ROOTSWEB. If this was really free they would not require a credit card #. When I asked them to cancel my 3 month subscription they said I had to call the 800 number too, I said I didn't call the 800 number to start it and I am not calling to stop it. I notified my bank not to pay and if they did they were required to charge it back, because it was unauthorized, and I copied Ancestry. It worked just fine probably because of the bank notification. However, if some kind person had not notified us in advance I would not have known to do all of this prior to the end of my subscription. I started two weeks in advance. Not to keep this going, I just want to "butt in" a sec. When I first started my research, I joined ancestry for their "free 14 day trial". The "come on" by them is actually what got me started. I researched every waking minute for 12 days, then sent them an email to stop the free trial. I got an email back saying you can't stop by email, I had to call an 800 number. So I called...I couldn't stop by phone. They sent me back and forth...and by the time they agreed to cancel me, they had billed my card for a full year. It took me 6 months to get that reversed. THEN 6 months later, when my year would have been up...they billed me again! Yes, for another year. THIS time, my lawyer called them I haven't heard from them again. They did the same thing to my cousin. Yep...no such thing as a free lunch, you're right! I've found it may take a little longer going through channels such as these great lists...but the info is free...and MUCH more accurate! Thanks for looking out for us, Maureen...and for all the hard work you do. Have a great week!
