    3. Dolores: I found 4 possibilities (considering the surname variables prevalent back in those days) in the 1880 census. Sorry, I do not have any other year that you requested. The only other one I have is for the 1830 census for Walker County. (1) Hiram Rains, age 51, born AL Asenith A. Rains, age 47 (wife) Children: Newton Rains (16), Hiram H. Rains (8), Mary J. Rains (5) all born in AL. (2) The household of William BEST & his wife Lucindy contains a stepdaughter, Mary Rains, age 6, born AL. (3) The household of John C. RYON, age 41, born AL and wife Sarah E. Ryon has several children: Mary S. (19), Margaret A. (15), Isaac G. (12), James T. (9), William F. (7), Sarah A. (4) all born in AL (4) James RAINES, age 25, born AL and his wife Lotty Raines (21) have no children but lists a brother, George, age 22, all born in AL Hope this helps.
