Linda, I'm sorry... It's confusing.. the family had Indian Connections, so I don't if it makes a difference or not.. can you look-up a; Sarah A Sanders b 1842 Al other sibs would be.. Andrew, Thomas, margret, Martha, Elizabeth, Joseph... She raised her family therem So I'm hoping she shows up...I don't know who her parents were.. Thank you soooo much Teresa
Who should I check in Perry or Morgan? If you are still referring to George Wilson, probably every county in Alabama has at least one. Both Perry and Morgan have George Wilsons also, but again, none of those are of the right approximate age. I checked all the ones indexed as George Wilson who were born anywhere near 1841 and none of those (in the entire state) had the right family. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Teresa Harvey" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, February 04, 2004 1:57 PM Subject: Re: [AL-CEN] Wilson family > Linda, > Thank you ,for the try.. can you check Perry or Morgan County.. There are 74 George Wilsons (exact spelling) indexed in 1870 Alabama. None of the one who were indexed in Pickens, Lawrence, or Winston Counties were near the correct age. I also checked all the George Wilsons who were enumerated as born near 1841, and none had the correct family. Sorry I wasn't able to help. June, There IS an Edward Warren indexed in 1840 Barbour County on page 82, but page 82 is missing at Ancestry and he's not listed on page 81 or 83. It wouldn't give a wife's name, of course, nor any other names in his household except for his own, but you would be able to get a 10-year range of age for him from the 1840 census. Hopefully someone with a different source will be able to help. Have you already checked the US GenWeb site for Barbour County? They may have a transcript posted there. Sorry I wasn't able to help. Well that answers my question. Even though they are clearly Indian in their pictures, they are not enumerated as Indian on this census and this is the census that the Creek Nation in Poarch uses to determine enrollment. They are listed as Indian in later census, but they were pretty severely persecuted in those days and if they could pass for white many did. My grandmother listed herself as white on my dad's birth certificate. Isn't awful that have to deny your heritage. Thank you for the lookup. I appreciate this info. Hi Earnie, Mattie was a Massey who married this John Norman and from what I have found, they migrated back and forth to Lawrence Co. and Giles Co. TN. I don't know John's birthdate, but Mattie was born circa 1903. Earlier census records always list her as Mattie. If you can't find anything though, it is possible they were in TN again. Indians? Everybody seems to be looking for them these days, but these were enumerated in the regular schedules for 1900 as white. Do they also appear on the Creek or Cherokee Rolls for the same timeframe, and if so, which? I have those if you need to check to see if they were enumerated on both. 1900 Monroe County, Alabama - 13th Precinct - June 23, 1900 - page 246 322 - Freeman, Robert, head; Dec 1854, age 45; married/18 years; AL AL AL; farmer; owns free farm #228 Mandy, wife; Jun 1864, age 36; 8 children/7 living; AL AL AL Ada, dau; Jan 1886, age 14; born AL Robert, son; Jan 1887, age 13; born AL; day labor Mary A., dau; May 1888, age 12; born AL John W., son; Jan 1889, age 11; born AL Frank, son; Jul 1890, age 9; born AL Georgia, dau; Aug 1892, age 7; born AL Miles, son; Mar 1898, age 2; born AL Linda in Georgia ----- Original Message ----- From: "Kim Chappell" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, February 03, 2004 10:25 AM Subject: Re: [AL-CEN] Monroe County 1900 > Sure Linda - This is what I have. > > Robert "Bob" Freeman (Indian) > born December 1854, Jeddo, Monroe County, Alabama > died appx. 1906-1910 > Married > Missouri "Mandy" Williams (Indian) > born 1861 > Died 1951 > > Children: > Aida Freeman born appx. 1886 > Robert "Boss" Freeman - born 1887 > Mary Ann Freeman - born 1888 > John W. Kim, It would help me find the right family if you could give more information if you know it. Could I please have your Robert Freeman's approximate age, race, place of birth, names of any known children? There is only one indexed in 1900 Monroe and he has the wrong wife.
