Linda, You're still up there. Just volunteering to do all this ought to put you there. And your batting average...still the same...I threw you a curve ball and they don't count against you! A'yup, it's time for me to fall off the pedestal. Too many David Browns indexed in 1930 Alabama to count - one in Henry with wife named Bertha and five children, none named Inez, Dimetrius, et al. One Vassie Brown - Lauderdale County, age 27, widowed, born in TN. Enumerated with her are two children named Alice, age 6, and Floyd G., 2, and her mother, Mary Roberson, 54, widowed, born AL. No Dimetrius Brown indexed, but over 30 Inez Browns in the state. One in Henry County; age 13, enumerated as "sister" in the household of VESSIE and Willie M. Brown. Vessie was 37, born in 1893, and wife Willie M. was 25. Sorry my batting average just plummeted. Linda, I am probably really grasping at straws on this one, but would appreciate it if you would give it a try. I'm trying to find David Brown born ca. 1893, wife Vassie. (I'm not sure if that is a nickname or not). I think they lived in Henry County but not sure. They may have kids: Dimetrius, Inez and DJ. So far, you have really been batting a 1000 and I have been happy dancin' all over the place! Kathy, This family is shown on two pages in 1920 - the botton of one sheet and the top of the next. Both are horribly faded and appear to have been photographed out of focus, so are practically impossible to read. I wasn't able to make out anything worthwhile at Ancestry, so following is what I was able to read from the Heritage Quest site. Sorry to be so uncertain, but this is my best guess, and I admit that without already knowing the names of Herman and Dowling, I'd not have been able to read those two at all. 1920 Henry County, Alabama - Beat 7, Newville - January 12, 1920 - ED 125/Sheet 8A - page 40 Dothan Road 153 - Peterson, Henry, head; owns?; M W 31 Md; AL AL AL; farmer/general farm Mary, wife; F W 30 Md; AL AL AL Marvin, son; M W 12 S; born AL Myrtle, dau; F W 10 S; born AL Herman, son; M W 8 S; born AL and these were at the top of the next sheet, which was infinitely worse than the first: Margie? Madgie?, dau; F W 5 S; born AL Kirby? Irby? (something-BY), son; M W 3? S; born AL Dowling, son; M W 1 5/12 S; born AL Good luck! Linda, Thank you so much for your reply. I did not see your mail until I had already sent the "please ignore" message. I had such a ton of mail this morning because of suddenly receiving all the messages that I did not get during a problem time with AOL/Rootsweb and I didn't scan down through it all like I usually do before answering any of it. You are always so quick and so good at helping me and so very, very appreciated! Regards, Evelyn
Please ignore this request. Due to ongoing problems with AOL and Rootsweb, this message was actually sent to the list on February 26 but is just now posting. Meanwhile, another Sizemore researcher answered my question. Evelyn
Thanks Linda for the lookup on the Peterson's, it at least gives me something to work with! Kathy _________________________________________________________________ Find things fast with the new MSN Toolbar includes FREE pop-up blocking! http://clk.atdmt.com/AVE/go/onm00200414ave/direct/01/
Joy, Lots of Austin/Austons indexed in 1900 Lauderdale, several born TN, but none near the right age. Was he still living in 1900, or at age 68, might he have been enumerated in the household of a son instead of as head-of-household? There's a John Austin indexed in 1900 Lawrence County who is the right age and born in TN. What are the names of John's wife and/or any children? Evelyn, Someone mis-interpreted Meary for Mary because of the end loop in the handwritten "M" at the beginning of her name. Meary and Mary are the same, and is the one indexed at Ancestry as Mary Sizemore, Division One, page 82. On that sheet, Mary is listed as age 80. Ancestry also indexes a Massy Sizemore in Baldwin County on page 233, but there is no Massy Sizemore indexed at Genealogy.com, and there is no page 233 in Baldwin County. Page 233 on that reel falls in Barbour County, so I didn't find anything for a Massy Sizemore at all. Hello, Could someone please lookup the John AUSTIN (sometimes spelled Austion) family on the 1900 Lauderdale Co AL Census. Have seen him with both the middle initials of L. or R. He was born about 1832 in TN. I would like to know the names and ages of everyone in the household. Thanks for any help. Joy

Can someone double check an 1850 listing for Mary, or Meary, SIZEMORE on the 1850 census, Baldwin Co. Another researcher found a listing on Ancestry for a Massy SIZEMORE, Div., 1, page 233. Is this the same as the "Meary" which is on the transcribed 1850 Baldwin census online? Being absolutely sure of this given name is very important in our research and the different "deciphered" versions are causing us a lot of confusion. The 1850 Baldwin shows a Meary SIZEMORE age 80 and she is with known family. The 1860 Monroe Co. census shows Mary SIZEMORE age 101 with our known family. One transcribed version also has the name Mary SEYMORE. Thanks for any clarification on this census confusion! Evelyn Leslie
