My grandfather was 35 when he married my 14 yr old grandmother :o) This family is also consistent with a family tree at rootsweb which is somewhat sketchy. It has the child Mary A. from the 1860 and several of the children who are shown in the 1880 census. Linda Murray wrote: > Thanks. Pris, You didn't specify a census year, but I searched the entire state for both 1850 and 1860 hoping to find something that matched what you requested. Hi, Re: McDonald in 1850 Pike County Census McDonald, David Male 38 Farmer Born SC Nancy F 23 NC Sarah F 6 ALA Mary F 5 ALA Martha F 4 ALA Thomas M 3 ALA Malitia F 1/12 ALA Hope this helps Karen
Rather than going thru them all, here are the McDonald heads of household: A. C. 1815NC Archibald D. 1814NC David 1812SC James 1792SC Thomas 1827SC Also the index you are probably using counts these as McDonald's: Aaron MacDonald 1901SC David Donald 1810AL It's easier to find them by name rather than page #. Joy, You can find the name of almost any populated place by using the GNIS search feature: http://geonames.usgs.gov/pls/gnis/web_query.gnis_web_query_form I think the town would be Leggtown, which is in Limestone County, but I don't find any James, Floyd, James F., or JF Richardson indexed in either 1910, 1920, or 1930 Limestone. I checked all the Richardson families indexed in Limestone for both 1910 and 1920, thinking that if he were still single during those census years, I might find him living in the household of his father or a relative, but didn't. I also checked all the James Richardsons indexed in the state in 1920 who were white and born anywhere near 1896 and found none with a wife named Mary, Ruth, or MR. When and where did they marry? When did they live in Leggtown? Where were they enumerated in earlier census years? What else do you know that might help me find him? I already have his approximate year of birth. Was he white? Do you know his place of birth? Sorry I wasn't able to help.
