Yes, I'm here too! My son's paternal grandmother was born in Fort Yukon, Alaska and was Gwich'in Athabaskan. Her name was Ann Marie JOHN and she was born in 1925. She was sent away to school as were many native children at that time, she did not go back and died in Anchorage in 1971. Her parents were Charlie and Sophia JOHN of Fort Yukon. I am interested in the Hudson's Bay Company as HBC established a trading post at Fort Yukon. Have you done any research in the HBC records? I would be interested to know how useful that would be. The family story is that after Charlie JOHN passed away Sophia JOHN remarried and she and her husband ran a trading post at Birch Creek. It leads me to believe that they may have been connected to HBC in Ft. Yukon.
