Author: amc1965 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.alaska.yukonkoyukuk/271.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I finally was able to spend some time in the library and I found three articles/mentions in the newspaper about the death and funeral of Charles H. Calhoun. Unfortunately, none of them mention his widow's name, just that she is in Tacoma, Wash. along with other surviving relatives. I would be happy to snail mail the articles to you, if you send your mailing address to me at amc1965@rurelated.com. The articles do state that he is a Pioneer of Alaska, Fairbanks Igloo. You may want to contact them for a copy of his application. If I can be of further assistance, please let me know. Anne Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 3. Hi Beverly; It's me! I thought you'd forgotten all about me! Did your husband remember anything about my Ruby ancestor? I reread his obituary and it said: Sewell Moody Dalby "S.M. Dalby, old time Klondiker. He worked a lease near Discovery, Sulphur; alos on 36 above, Sulphur, which was then owned by Duncan Hackett, who is at the front; and David Fyree. In 1904 Mr. Dalby joined the big exodus to Fairbanks where he worked a lease on the famous Discovery Bench on Cleary Creek. In 1910 he went to Iditarod, where he ran a stage from Iditarod to Flat City. In 1911 he drove his stock overland via the Innoko to Ruby, and lost several head in the venture. Here he was associated with Andy Webster, a fromer Fairbansan, in the freighting business. Later he teamed on his own account, and for years ran a woodsaw in Ruby, where he married a few years ago. He was born and brought up in Victoria, B.C. where his relatives reside." The above obituary was written in Oct or November of 1918, just after the Sophia went down with all on board. In it, it mentions that he was married (probably to someone from Ruby and probably a native woman is my guess). She was not on board the Sophia, but had come outside about a wekk or 2 before him. Unfortuantely, no one knows her name. We think there was a son as well. So glad to see your email - hope your summer is going well, Sue suebarr@direct.ca Sue Barr G - 5 Bowen Island, B.C. 3. Starting today, Monday, June 10th, and extending over several days, RootsWeb is going to be moving the list servers and other machines. No messages sent are expected to be lost, but the lists will be down for a while when it happens; please don't post "why aren't I getting mail" messages during that time.....you will when it comes back up, and you don't want half of it to be everyone on the list asking why aren't they getting mail. <g> If you have trouble reaching other RootsWeb servers this week, it's probably for the same reason; try again in an hour or two or three..... Thanks for your patience! Kerry List Admin

    3. Hi Mark I found some more information about the Lelierve family in the book Galena and Gold and I will send you more tomorrow. I am at my office and the book is at home. I hope this is the right family. According to the book Joe Levierve was known as Joe "Rabbit" because Lelierve mean rabbit in French. His son Charles F. was called "Bunny rabbit". This is all I can remember for now. Is there anything else I can look for in the book that you would be interested in?
