Hello, I am enjoying the flurry of activity on the list and want to take advantage of the renewed interest. Does anyone have ANY information on any Akin who lived in Mississippi? My William Hiram Akin was born somewhere in GA in 1829 and moved to Mississippi ca 1860. He married Levina Vinson Laney and I descend from one of their sons, Benjamin Phillips Akin(s) who was born 1850 in GA and maried first Martha A. Ballard who was also born in GA ca 1843. The Laneys were located in Henry Co., GA in 1830; Campbell Co., GA in 1840, but the county location in GA of the Akins is not known to me. I suspect that James Akin of the 1830 and 1840 Campbell County censuses may be connected to my family but I have no informationon him and his family. William Hiram came to Attala Co., MS and reared his family. His second wife was Montgomery "Gumery" Burroughs (or Burrows). They also had children. Some of them moved over to Leake Co., MS.
