    1. [AKINS-L] Francis Mann's Will
    2. PATRICK GUDAITIS
    3. I got a look at the Will of Francis Mann in 1768. The right side edge of the book was badly torn with about an inch missing up and down. The bottom edge was badly mutilated about the same. As the remainder is fairly readable, portions missing can be figured out to a degree. As previously stated, Mary Mann, wife of Francis, was made Executrix. So was Page Mann. Mary was given a portion (torn area) of the estate during her lifetime or widowhood. Her 1/3 dower rights were recognized. After her death, or end of widowhood, her portion was to be devided amongst the other heirs. Not again, until December of 1785, was Francis Mann mentioned except as deceased, or, estate of. In the 1785 inventory, there was mentioned numerous items including slaves by name. This appears to be the time of Mary's death. I mentioned in an earlier post where Page Mann was called the sole surviving executor of Francis Mann. He was ordered to give the final settlement statement. There was no other Franicis Mann. And if there were, that one would have to have a brother name Page Mann as well. Further it would be an incredible event for a supposed 2nd Francis to also name his brother, Page Mann, also as executor. Indeed, there was only one Francis Mann and one Page Mann. Still, there is the problem with Lewis Akin's connection. Since the Laurens Co. SC record does not say he is demanding his dowership rights for anyone other than himself, and, Francis Mann did not list a daughter, I can only conclude that his relationship did not rest in Elizabeth. Rather, I believe his relationship was with Mary Mann. More later..... Godspeed.....Patrick
