Hello everyone, I do have a John Akins in my file that I am trying to connect to my ggg grandfather, Joseph Eakins. Joseph had a son, John, who was born 1789 and married Sarah King (2ond wife and married in KY) and possibly Lettie Melton (first wife and married in Rutherford Co., NC. Joseph's wife was Isabella Walkcup. The John Akins that I am trying to connect was born in 1785 in Ireland ? and married Sally Walker in Rutherford Co., NC on Sept 8, 1809. Sally and John had three children--Isabella, William, and Rachel. The reason I think there is a connection is from where they lived and the fact that one of their children was named Isabella. My Joseph and Isabella came from County Tyrone, Ireland, before the Revolution (maybe in the 1760's or early 1770's). Their first child was born about 1774 in NC. I feel that this other John Akins is perhaps a nephew to Joseph as Joseph is supposed to have had a brother, also known as John, who came to the US with him and Isabella.
