This is what I have: Susan AKIN b Nov 8, 1824 - somewhere in NC/ d Apr 27, 1885 Hardeman Co TN married Feb 12, 1839 Fayette Co., TN spouse - Benjamin Franklin DOWDY, Sr. b July 7, 1816 VA/ d Dec 31, 1885 Hardeman Co., TN children: Martha Ann, George W., William H., Richard, Annie, Benjamin Jr., John, William E., Robert, Sallie A., Jennie, Lizzie, Eugene This is what the 1850 Hardeman Co., TN census has on this family: Dwelling #925 Dowdy, B F 34 M VA (AKIN), Susan 24 F NC Dowdy, Geo Dowdy, Richard Dowdy, Ann AKIN, Feely 48 F NC AKIN, Richard 23 M NC I think Feely (or Freely) could be Susan's mother and Richard could be her brother. The Hardeman Co Bio Sketches book states that Susan AKIN's fathers name was James E. AKIN. This Akin family came from NC to LaGrange, Fayette Co., TN about 1837. (Goodspeed Histories of Fayette and Hardeman Co) Also in 1850 Hardeman Co TN census is this Dwelling #920 AKIN, James 30 M NC Mary 21 F NC William 1 M TN I know that James E. AKIN married Mary (Portice) in Hardeman Co, but I don't know if there is a connection between this AKIN family and my Susan AKIN. HELP !!
