Hi - I'm new to the list and decided that the best way to introduce myself is to list what scant information I have. My gggrandmother was Mary Akin (Akins, Aiken, ???)born 1798 in SC. She married John Chastain ca 1820 in SC. She died about 1859/60 in Gordon County GA. The children are: 1. Nancy, born 1821. 2. Littleton, born 6 April 1822. 3. Sarah (Sally), born 23 Nov 1826. 4. James Denton, born 11 March 1828. 5. Abner M. borh 1829. 6. Mary Jane, born 1830. 7. Jemima Katherine, born 1832. 8. Martha Elizabeth, born 24 January 1839. (my ancestor) 9. John Caldwell, born 1842. So far, I have found VERY little on my line or any related Akins lines. One puzzle though, is Littleton AKins in the census records, who gives a DOB of 1803. I suspect he might be a younger brother. The name Littleton is obviously a family name, as Mary and John named their firstborn son, Littleton Chastain. If any of this rings any bells, please contact me. Diane Bingham dbing@inreach.com
