Hi Paul, We are interested in pre revolution Akins in New York. We have some information and are seeking the family of Katherine Amanda Heineman who married Frank Seymour Akins. Frank was from Chautaugua County, NY. The marriage would have been in the late 1800's. Hi Nora, We have some information (not verified by us) on a Capt.John Akin who came over from Scotland and died in King Philip's War here. He had a son, John also. Our info comes from a book in the Fenton Library in Jamestown, NY which was done by an individual. It would be interesting to compare notes. I'm new to the list so I thought I would add to the lost families. The parents of SHANNON AKIN [Aiken] are lost to me. Shannon was born in Kentucky on Feb 28, 1813. He went to Morgan county, Missouri in the early 1830's as a Baptist minister. He married Kittturah Durnang [also of Kentucky] after arriving in MO. Their children, born between the years 1837-1856 in Morgan county, MO are; Sarah, Garland, Elizabeth, Katherine, John, Nancy, Alfred, Mary, Porter, Russell. I have been looking into the GARLAND AKIN line of Russell , Greene, and Cumberland counties of Kentucky to see if there is a connection. Thanks, Barb Kuper
