    3. Hi Melissa, I am also researching Akins or Aikens in SC. My g-g-grandmother, Millie Akins, was born in SC abt. 1794. At least that was the spelling of her name on her death certificate. She m. Andrew Todd, who was b. in Ireland, about 1819-20. Their first son was b. in KY in 1821 and then they moved on to Jeff. Co., IN. I haven't really tried to trace her parents as yet.     3. I am searching for information on my greatgreatgrandmother Catherine AKIN who married William BOYD in 1848. They had at least 3 children which included my ggm Isabella BOYD b. 1866 Drumbyagh registered in Newtownstewart Strabane. I am waiting for a copy of their marriage record from the Strabane GRO. Everyday I rush home from work to check the mailbox but no record :( LOL Patience is not my virtue when I am waiting for records! :) I will post to the list as soon as I find out who her father was.     3. Hi all, I am not an Akins family member but I do have a connection. My great- grandparents were Newman William Osborn and Sarah Louise Kilmer. Newman died from an accidental poisoning 22-Feb-1893. Sarah remarried 15-April-1894 to John Melvin Arthur Akins in Glen Rose, Somerville Co., TX. John and Sarah had one child, Myrtle. I know nothing of John's parents or siblings and don't know what happened to Myrtle. If anyone can help me out here I would appreciate it. Thanks, Wayne L. Osborne

This family later moved to Miller Co., (Mandeville) AR. Minnie was the only child of Hilliard and Mary Ellen (his 3rd wife). Minnie was married to an "Akin" and still alive in the 1950's.     3. I am a newbie to this list and am seeking your assistance. My greatgreatgrandmother was Catherine AKIN. She married William BOYD. Their daughter, Isabella BOYD b. 14 July1866, was my greatgrandmother. I have a certified copy of Isabella's birth record which shows she was born in Drumbyagh. The record was registered in Newtownstewart Strabane. I called the GRO in Strabane and they have located a copy of William and Catherine's marriage record. I requested a check from Ruesch Internation in pounds sterling and have just received it. I am mailing it to the Strabane office Monday. The person I spoke to would not give me their parents names over the phone because she claimed she was having trouble reading it. Therefore, I won't know who Catherine's father was until I recieve my copies. I will post it to the list when I receive it. It will probably take a couple of weeks. The person I spoke to said that they were married in 1848. I know that they had at least two other children. Since my greatgrandmother wasn't born until 1866, there are many possibilities. I am hoping that someone on this list has knowledge of Catherine AKIN and her family. I would greatly appreciate your assistance. Also, someone mentioned to me that it was thought that AKIN is a variant of ADKIN or ATKIN. Does anyone know if this is true? Given the variant spellings of varous surnames (mainly due to pronunciations or illiteracy) it seems possible. Thank you, Gloria

    3. I need help! Could someone out there do a lookup on 1920 Census for Polk County TN.     3. Don't know if I've posted here before, but I have been lurking about reading the posts! My Akins line possibly goes from GA, TN then MO. This is what I have: James Akins - b. 6 January 1793 TN We have a census that shows him living in GA as an adult. His wife is Elizabeth Garner Their son is Nathan Akins, b. 1 October 1844 in Polk, MO He marries Mary Tendle They have a son Thomas Ellis Akins, b. 5 March 1887 in Seeder County, MO Thomas marries Oma Rickman.     3. For those of you on the hunt for the wife of Lewis Akin's ancestery, I have found clues from Charlotte Co. Order books that it is not his wife that is related to Francis Mann, but rather, Lewis himself. This can be indicative if he was filing his rights on behalf of himself. As some of you know, Lewis Akin assigned Benjamin Kevill to basically act as his attorney to secure his rights under the Laws of Dowership. Indeed Ben Kevill sued Page Mann and succeded in winning the suit. The order books only indicate the amout of the suit and the amount awarded. It does not indicate why. Anyway, as you know, Page Mann was a brother of Francis Mann as indicated in his will of 1768. One important record about 1790 demands Page Mann, and says "surviving executor" of Francis Mann, to appear before the court to give a final settlement. This record shows that Page Mann was apprently old and was refering to the will of 1768. At any rate, Page Mann was not listed in the month he was ordered to appear. But he apparently lost his roll of administrator the estate. At a date in 1791 several other men were appointed to adminstrator the estate which was ordered to be recorded. I have again reordered the microfilm for the Will books in hopes of finding the final estate settlement records. Fingers crossed. Godspeed.....Patrick

    3. Hi, all, Hope you're having happy holidays. The last newsletter from Clan Eakin had an excerpt from the above book and reminded me of my having some pages copied from it. I found it in the Pennsylvania Historical Society's library when we visited there a year ago. At the time I knew much less than I do now, or I would have copied the whole book. Does anyone have access to The History of Some Aikin-Eakin Families compiled by Mrs. E.E. Cleland (Jennie Aikin Cleland) in DeLancey, New York on May 10, 1929 which I believe is beyond any copyright restrictions. It appears to have been privately published. The newsletter said it was also at the D.A.R. library in Washington D.C. but I imagine they would be hesitant to copy it in entirety. Please contact me if you do.     3. It was interesting to read the comments on Peter Atkins. I have been searching for a Peter Atkins (per one listing) whose duaghter, Ann Akin, married my gggggg-uncle, Thomas Logwood. Does anyone have any idea which is correct. By the way they were Peter was in Mecklenberg County, VA when he signed a marriage agreement with Edmund Logwood (Thomas' father).
