I am constantly checking the genforum and anything else I can. I do not know for sure that I need to research the Akin line. One of my gr-gr grandmothers was Loisa Formby. I believe her grandfather was Nicolas Formby who married Thomas Akin's dau Sarah Akin in VA or GA. None of the Formby lines contain my Loisa Formby but I feel sure that she is part of the Akin line somehow. Ann Wise
Hi there Patrick, Glad you are still with us!! As you may know...I had to be off line for several weeks while moving and, naturally, changing ISPs. Note my new address as: catinjax@bellsouth.net I am working on a Southern AKINS Website. Found some graphics yesterday and hope to get it up over the weekend. My personal website has also moved as I now have my own, personal space at RootsWeb: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~catinjax/ Can't wait to hear more from you....we will have space now to put some of these deeds and other records on-line if you will be so kind as to share. I also have a new computer and the all-in-one HP Printer that faxes, scans, copies & prints in color. It's my new toy..but lots to learn on how to use it...LOL Take care, CAT PATRICK GUDAITIS wrote: > Hi folks, > Just got some reels in on Charlotte Co. Wills, and Mecklenburg Deed > and Order books. Elias Akins born January 23, 1858 died April 1921, married Rachel Cowart in Pickens County, Georgia on August 1, 1880. Children's names Savannah, Alice, Ophelia, Greely and Fannie Mae. Elias ( the name has been spelled several different ways....Elijah.etc) may have had a sister named Amanda Akins that married Joseph Lewis Cowart on November 15, 1868. If anyone can help with this family line, I would love to hear from you. teri
Hi folks, Just got some reels in on Charlotte Co. Wills, and Mecklenburg Deed and Order books. Only had time for a cursory view today. I will lay bet that Lewis and Thomas Akin's were brothers. They also had another possible brother..... Daniel !!!!! They appear on the same entries. The dates were in the 1770's and early 1780's for these records. Alas. The entry for the final estate settlement record of Francis Mann contained absolutly nothing. Just a dollar amount. Page Mann died in 1803. I have his will and inventory. It will take all of the two weeks I have the reels to go over them. Even longer to let ya'll know what is in them. Godspeed.....Patrick
Patrick, I have felt for awhile that Lewis, Thomas and possibly Daniel were brothers, but could never prove it. Always wanted to add it to the newsletter, but hesitated to just go on "gut" feeling. Let me know if you find out something more solid that my "gut" instinct. Thanks, Angie atstrz@icok.net At 08:18 PM 2/11/99 -1000, you wrote: > Hi folks, > Just got some reels in on Charlotte Co.
