    1. Canadian AKERS/GRIFFITH marriage?
    2. T. Mark James
    3. John AKERS and his wife, Margaret GRIFFITH (also rendered GRIFFRY), appear in Opelousas, Louisiana, shortly after the Louisiana purchase. They baptised their sons George (b. 1797) and John (b. 1795) at the Opelousas Catholic Church in 1810. George later married Mary REED, and his brother John married first Catherine McKOY and second Sara Rosanna HENRY. The priest recorded that this family had come to Louisiana from "le Détroit du Canada". Does anyone know of a Canadian AKERS family -- perhaps one that fled to Canada after the Revolutionary War because they were Tories? Does anyone know of an AKERS/GRIFFITH or GRIFFREY connection anywhere? -- Mark James <tmark@geocities.com> ________________________________________________________ 1stUp.com - Free the Web Get your free Internet access at http://www.1stUp.com
