Although I am not related, I saw this obituary in a local weekly newspaper and thought I would post to the list in case another Akers is related. Ken Akers East County Observer (Manatee Co., FL), November 9, 2000, page 22 Chauncey Lee Akers 95, Sarasota, died Oct. 31, 2000. He was born April 13, 1905, in Terre Haute, Ind. and came to Sarasota in 1967 from Peru, Ind. He retired after 41 years as district superintendent with Northern Indiana Public Utilities in Peru. He graduated from Rose Polytech Institute. He was a member of Kiwanis Club and American Red Cross and served for several years on the Sarasota County Public Utilities Advisory Board. He was a member of First United Methodist Church. Survivors include two daughters, Mary Durland of San Luis Obispo, Calif., and Sally Garrison of Blue Grass, Iowa; a son, Allen L. of Indianapolis; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
