There's also a group of AKER (no S) families in Wythe County VA in the 1800s. THey may have come from Shenandoah County, VA and do not appear to be related to Blackburn AKERS and his descendents/relations. Jackson AKER of Wythe County married Phoebe ABSHER in 1840. Their daughter Mary Jane AKER married William A. HEARN. Mary Jane & William were my 2-great grandparents. To add to the confusion, some county records occasionally spell the surname AKERS. --jsl ----- Original Message ----- From: <CraigH9557@aol.com> To: <AKERS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, February 08, 2000 10:09 PM Subject: Re: benjamin Akers > Cindi > > There seems to be a VA family of Akers and a NJ family of Akers who may or > may not be related early on.
