    1. Simon AKERS of Greenbrier Co., VA & OH
    2. Donna Hull
    3. Hi-- Seeking information on Simon AKERS of Franklin Co., VA, m. in Greenbrier in 1780's to Mary SMITH. They moved c1797 to Clinton, later Highland Co., OH. They had a "large" family, some of which settled in KY. I need a list of children for him. He d. in Highland 1826 & he & Mary are buried there. His will only mentions Mary, and a Mr. Smith who is probably her relative. Census records have not been a good clue either. I have proven John b. 1795, William b. 1800 KY & Henry b. 1801 KY (or Franklin Co., VA) are brothers & they lived in Estill Co., KY 1820-30. John & Wm stayed in that area. Henry had to see the world & my line, as a result, came to CA. ANY information will be appreciated. Donna I too have found numerous errors or misconceptions in ALL of the AKERS published sources [except my own of course :-) ] The above Simon is called Simon III on the chart that was on the list today. So many sources confuse Wm of Franklin Co., VA with Wm of Campbell Co., VA. They even have them both m. to Elizabeth Martye, but some have Wm of Campbell m. to Polly Blackburn. Is Our Kin by W. R. Akers accurate as to the lineage of these 2 Williams??? And I'm curious about the other Tidewater Robert someone mentioned. More info please. Incidentally, several friends who are from Holland have told me this surname is quite common in Holland & is pronounced AW-Kers. That's the way it was spelled (Awkers) on Henry's m. license. Do you think Wm the immigrant to NJ was English or a transplanted Dutchman?? -- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I'm Ancestrally Challenged!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
