Born February 9, 1945 in Princeton, she was the daughter of the late Billie L. Mathena Thompson. She was a homemaker and a member of the Memorial Church of Christ in Princeton. Survivors include four sons, David Akers, Jr. and wife Niki of Tazewell, Va., Bobby Akers and Charles Jackson Akers both of Princeton, and Ray Akers and wife Dawn of Bluefield; three daughters, Rosa Davis and Rebecca Rowe both of Princeton, and Barbara Smith and husband Donald of Sevierville, Tenn.; fourteen grandchildren, Ernest Davis Jr. and wife Katrina, Joshua Davis, Ceta Akers and husband Donzie, Quincy Akers, Christopher Rowe, Derrick Billings, Brian Akers, Charity Akers, and Meagan Akers all of Princeton, Dannie Akers and Serenity Akers both of Tazewell, Va., Amber Smith, Telena Smith and Donnie ! Smith all of Sevierville, Tenn.; and six great-grandchildren, Katelin Atwell, Jordan Whittaker, Haley Lester, Chase Davis and Kelsey Davis all of Princeton, and Jayson Akers of Bluefield. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 24, 2008 at the George W. Seaver Chapel of Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton with Pastor Jimmy D. Thompson and Pastor Ernest W. Davis, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow at the Mt. Horeb Cemetery in Princeton. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. today. On line condolences may be sent to www.seaverfuneralservice.com.
