Pat, I don't know if there's any connection. John Wallace Akers was born 12 Nov 1877 in Montgomery Co., VA and married Mary Elizabeth Matheny on 20 Oct 1897. He had a twin sister, Emma M. Akers. That's all I know, as I don't have the names of his parents. Richard Jennifer Akers wrote: > Richard - My Akers line is from Grayson Co., Hardin Co., KY. Pat, I didn't get much information from my father before he died, so I had to begin with him. I recently received a copy of my father's SSN application from 1941. On it he lists his POB as Johns Run, Carter County, Kentucky. I always thought it was Grayson County. His parents were Edward Howard Akers and Essie Garnet Anthony. Obviously I've just started and hope to be able devote more time. I've got a ways to go before I can answer your question, but will save your e-mail. Richard, I was very pleased to see this EMAIL I grew up with GAIL AKERS and we were the best of friends. We were separated during WWII. Gail went into the Navy and I went into the Air Force We never had a chance to get together after this. I grew up with Gail on Johns Run, Carter Co. KY. After WWII I moved to Decatur, GA (near Atlanta). I return to this area often and both Gail & I have many relatives that live or did live in this section of KY. I return to Carter Co. each 4th of July and we have a family reunion at a park called Carter Caves State park. One of the people that attends is Roxie Sexton and her family. Roxie is Gails sister. One of my hobbies is collecting family history and I was never able to get a connection to Gails family. I did not start my collection until Gail was dead. I even help publish a magazine called ADAMS ADDENDA II. One branch of your family is ADAMS. I would love to exchange some information!!!
