Hoping to solve a great family mystery. MARY "Polly", who died a JACOBS, was born 9 September 1799 in either Montgomery or Patrick Co., VA. MARY was married about 1818. Her husband's name is unknown, but she had a least one son: CLAIBORN R., (1819-1849), who lived in Carter Co., KY. MARY was married in Floyd Co., KY on 1 Feb. 1829 to CARTER HENRY JACOBS. On the marriage record, her name is listed as ARES. This could be AYERS, but it could also be ACRES, AKERS, etc. Carter and Mary had many children and lived in Floyd, Perry, Lawrence and Carter counties, KY. Mary died on 3 Jan. 1880, probably in Sangamon Co., IL. Could MARY be connected to CLAYBOURN AKERS, who married ELIZABETH THOMPSON in 1789 in Montgomery Co, VA ? Mary's son was named Claiborne. She lived in both Montgomery Co., VA and Floyd Co., KY, where the AKERS line can be found. CARTER JACOBS father was ROWLY JACOBS, who was a neighbor of CLAYBOURN AKERS in the 1810 census of Montgomery Co., VA. By 1820, Rowly and Carter Jacobs were in Floyd Co., KY. I am thinking that MARY was either a daughter or daughter-in-law of Claybourn Akers and Elizabeth Thompson. Any help is greatly appreciated. Robert (Jeff) Bartholomew Springfield, MO
