James A. Akers, 84, of Tazewell, VA, died May 22nd, 2000, at the Tazewell Community Hospital. James was born November 2nd, 1915 in Tazewell, the son of the late Robert and Viola Asbury Akers. James was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers Frank Akers, Andy Akers, Edgar Akers and Melvin Akers; and one sister, Katherine Kinder. James is survived by one brother Robert Akers; six sisters Mildred Pennington, Margaret Rodriquez,, Hazel Shouse, Mary Wiseman, Ella Stephenson, and Barnzie Lewis; a special nephew Gary Pen- nington, and a host of nieces and nephews. James was buried in the Mapelwood Cemetery in Tazewell, VA. bd050
