Carmen, and others -- Is it possible that this Thomas and Martha AKERS are the same as the Thomas and Martha AKERS who appear in Louisiana and Mississippi in 1805 and 1808? Family lore states that Martha's maiden name was MITCHELL, but I know of no proof of that. A Bible states that Thomas died in 1815, at age 45.
