Frank was born December 8, 1937, and was a son of the late Frank James and Nora Bell Gillispie Akers. He was also preceded in death by brother, Donald G. Akers; and sister, Margaret A. Grant. He retired from the trucking industry and Teamsters Local 175 in 1990 and was a member of Hurricane Bible Church. Surviving are his loving wife of 37 years, Rebecca A. Akers; daughters, Debra McCloud of Huntington, Dana Marlene Lewis and husband, Jerry, of Virginia Beach Va., and Margaret Dawn-Marie Thacker and husband, Gary, of Fort Gay; sons, Franklin Delano Akers Jr. of Huntington and James Robert Akers and wife, Nicole, of Huntington; grandchildren, Brenda McCloud, Misty Whitehurst, Frank Neil, Andy Thacker, McKenzie Akers, Coheen Thacker, Isaiah Akers and Nakyla Akers; and great-grandchildren, Wallace Whitehurst Jr. and Jordan Neil. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, August 28, at Hurricane Bible Church with the Rev. Art Hage officiating. Burial will be in Mount Moriah Cemetery. Friends may call from 7 till 9 p.m. Wednesday at Hurricane Bible Church, 2765 2nd St., Hurricane. Allen Funeral Home, Hurricane, in charge of arrangements.
