(I have a copy of the marriage bonds for Jacob Akers and Lucinda Duncan). Using the Montgomery County marriage records you should be able to continue on down the lineage. According to Dr. Amos Wood's book (p.6) William J. Akers was the father of Andrew who married susan Duncan. THEORY: I believe that an Akers family and the family of Thomas Duncan owned adjacent farms in a rural invironment. Six of Thomas Duncan chrilden married Akers. (Dr. amos Woods book p. 59). This includes both Andrew Akers and Jacob Akers. We know that William J. Akers was the father of Andrew ((p.6). But was he the father of Jacob? Next, we need to find documentation for the parents of William J. Since 1993 I have been searching for the parents of Jacob Akers. The ancestors of Jacob and Andrew are probably the same. I have just about given up. One possibility still exists - The Library of Virginia at Richmond. I understand that a mountain of unpublished information is located at the library. There is a lot of genealogical research going on at the library and it takes a lot of process time to get to desired records. Also, hotel bills are high. So, I guess that we are a broken link. I would like to caution you on the works of Dr. Henry Bracken. There is a book "OUR KINSFOLK" by W. R. Akers which may be located at the Montgomery County library in which some of the conclusions of Dr. Bracken are challenged (p.10). Also, I have a copy of a research paper which casts doubt on some of Dr. Bracken's conclusions. (if you want a copy give me "A" mailing address). Best wishes.
