Craig, No none that I know of unless my grandfather's kin was from there. At present I have no data to confirm or reject. Thanks, Steve
Steve Benjamin L. Akers was born in NY and lived in Ohio, and Adams Co. Illinois. Do you have any Illinois connections? Craig
I am new at this and am looking for info on my grandfather. I noticed in your list that you show a Benjamin L. Akers. In all the looking I have done I have not run across Benjamin in very many instances. My grandfather was Benjamin Harry Akers, born in Brunswick, GA, Glynn county. I do not have a birth date. He was married in 1908 to Lida Hawkins in Plant City, FL. Some info state he worked in the coal mines. I have no other information. Any thing would be a great help. Thanks much! Steve

I have to study this one to see where it all goes to. It isn't the same as Valentine Akers or Blackburn Akers lines is it? How good to get so much! I am envious. I know I tie in somewhere, I'll find it someday. Thanks for posting it. I am sure there are lots of Akers that it will help out. Diana Akers Knowles--always the Akers
Thanks, Diana. I'll just have to keep on hunting. Nancy
Thanks Craig. Regards, Nancy
I wish that your Samuel could have been in my line. I do have a Sylvester Ward in one family line that married Martha Crowder, but that is a bit out of the Akers line. I haven't heard of your Aker line before and can't shed much light at all on the subject, Sorry! Happy Hunting! Diana
Nancy I don't know this family but there were many Akers in Adams co. Illinois. Not sure how far that is from the counties you speak of but I'll send you a list of our Akers to see if anything stands out. Here is one way this could work: George J., William, Benjamin L., Rachael (and possibly Levi and john) Akers. Are all Children of Jesse Akers and Martha Razen of New York. William , Benjamin and Rachael were all born in NY. Peter and Elizabeth Ann are children of Charles DeMoss and Sarah DeMoss Simmons (Sammons?) Rachael Akers marries William T. Almon Akers (Rachaels Nephew (or younger brother), probably William's Son maybe by a first marraige or he might just be a younger brother) marries Peter's Sister, Elizabeth. William Akers may actually be married to another sister or Aunt— Anna Simons (sammons) The DeMoss mother is Sarah Simmons or Sammons. The Akers, DeMoss, Herron and Sammons families are all intertwined. They seem to have met in and around Miami township, Hamilton Co. Ohio, and all moved to Adams Co. or Calhoun Co. IL. This update is based on my own research and bits and pieces from everyone I am sending this to. Two new important clues (at least to me) are the store listing with all the familes there, and the marriage of Catharine Akers/Herron to a DeMoss with a Sammons Mother-in-Law. Our latest breakthrough was finding Jesse Akers in New Jersey (thanks Wilma) and getting a ton of information on the New Jersey Akers families from Donna Evans. This is especially for the attention of Diana but I'm posting it to the list in the hope there's somebody out there who knows of this family. This is all I have so far: Samuel Akers married Catharine (or Catherine) Ward and they had Drusilla Akers, born 13 Feb. 1835 in Summit Co., OH. Drusilla married Robert Neece Curry 27 Sept. 1853 in Coles Co., IL. I know nothing of where Samuel or Catharine came from, dates or place of death, any other children they may have had. The information I do have was taken from Drusilla's death certificate. That shows the surname as Aker. Anybody know anything of this family? Thanks, Nancy Young
Hi Earl Akers, Sr Are you related to any of the Akers from Josephine Co, Douglas Co or Jackson Co OR? Great Grandfather was Rufus. Brothers were William Carrol, Albert Middleton, Gilbert, & Mansfield Walker. Sisters: Nancy, Sarah L. : there may of been more children. Parents were: Obediah White AKERS and Sarah Emmeline OSBORNE. This info ties in with what T. Bryan listed. His info filled in dates and a surname or 2 for me. Like to hear from anyone of this direct line. Thanks. You have a line that I haven't heard of yet. Yes, any information would be helpful. I study all lines to try to find mine...I should have them all tied together if you give me another twenty years! Why don't you start with sending me some vitals via the email-names, dates, places. Is this your line? How do you fit into it? That would be a good start. Have you confirmed all your information...family Bibles etc? My William (or Benjamin in one document) just came from nowhere....and I know that the human race didn't start with him, and his wife's name isn't Eve....so, your info could be a healthy link. I have long suspected them traveling in the areas that you mention and only being in PA. long enough to have George Washington Akers in @1837. He passed on the information that no Akers man lived longer than 70-72 and died of (hardening of the arteries.)..heart failure. He was right and many haven't made it to 68 in our family. Thanks for writing and I will wait to hear from you....Diana

Marie Akers, 93, died Thursday, January 27th, 2000. Marie was a native of Roanoke, VA, and had been a resident of Newport News, VA for more than 25 years. Marie Akers was preceded in death by her husband, Shelby V. Akers. Survivors include her daughter, Marie A. Crist; seven grandchildren, Shelby Dillon, Alice Parks, Amy Zieman, Dawn Crist, Sara McCarty, Stephen Crist and Adam Crist; and six great-grandchildren.
Don't think so. My Thomas Akers shows up in the Monroe Co census later after it is formed from Barren - I think 1820 (I'm away from my data.) He does disappear after that and I don't know where he went. I believe he and George were brothers, but I'm not really sure. I have some correspondance from several years ago I will post later this evening - that gives some tax info and some land info. He may have disappeared, but it would have been after 1810 for sure.
