    1. William AKERS & Anna Maria ACRES (father and daughter)
    2. Christine Normington
    3. Hi folks and happy Christmas! I've just joined this list as a few days ago I discovered my 2x great-grandfather (John SMART) was twice married and not just once as I had thought. His first wife was Anna Maria ACRES. They married in Bloomsbury, Middlesex on 3 June 1842. Their daughter Jane (my great-grannie) was born on July 4th of the same year. Anna Maria presumably died as John married a second time in 1847. All I know about Anna Maria ACRES is that her father was called William and that his occupation at the time of her marriage was a wheelwright. I do not know when Anna Maria was born, but the marriage certificate states that she and John (born 1814) were both of full age. Please can anybody help me with either a christening, siblings or possible mother for her, please? As a pure guess, her mother may have been called Jane (I don't know where else the name might have come from, as it was not from John's family). There is a marriage for a William AKERS and Jane DOBINSON in St. George the Martyr, Southwark 8 May 1818, which might possibly tie in. I would be most appreciative of any help, and if anyone thinks we might be related I have quite a lot of other information, but sadly none about the ACRES/AKERS as I mentioned earlier. Every blessing, Christine Researching ASHBY/FEATHERSTONE/OWLETT Kent/London, MARDLE/MARDELL/WACKET/WIL(L)SON/ TAYLOR/CHAPMAN/BARLEY/TOTTENHAM Herts, SMART/DUDMAN/WILLES Wilts/London, STILWELL Kensington/Lambeth, SWAN/ROBERTSON/ SCOTT/PAUL, Paisley/ NORMINGTON Yorkshire/Newcastle, SMITH Herts/Sussex, FOSBERY/RAPLEY/GODDEN Hampshire & ACRES/AKERS Middlesex.

There seem to be two major strains of Akers families one from Va. and ones from NJ. who may actually be related to each other. Craig herron

What dates are you talking about? Anyone else have any Jewell-Akers > info? > > Craig Herron > ggggrandson of Rachel Akers ++++++++++ Good Morning, Craig ~ Back in the '50s - 1971 there was a publication called "New Jersey Genesis" which was the product of one man, Harold Sonn. It was a newsletter-type quarterly with material on hundreds of NJ Families. Under "Jewel/Jewell/Juel" are the following: Captain, Cornelia, Edward M, Eliakim, Elizabeth, Family, Frederick, George, Gershim, Herbert, Hubbard, Isaac, Isauel, John, Jonathan, Margaret, Mary, Moses, Nathaniel, Neeltje, Richard, Salome, Sara, Seth, Stephen, Tabitha, Theodore, Thomas, Widow, William. Most names have more than one page reference, so they could refer to more than one perosn of the same name. I purchased a complete run of NJG. If any of the names above hold particular interest, let me know and I'll send copies of the appropriate pages. As often as not, the name will be mentioned in a query--at least 30 years old, now! So it might be difficult to trace the questioner. There are only a few Akers: John, Jonathan, Mary Jane, Obadiah, Thomas, Zubie/Azuba. John, Obadiah, and Thomas are all on the same page--probably a query. I think I owe you a lot of "stuff" from my Akers pages... Can you bring me 'up tp speed' so that I can make up a packet and send it along to you--at last! Regards, Alice Smith

    3. Virginia: Go to Amherst, VA 1850 census. You will find a William Norval Akers born 1842-44, son of John Henry Akers, son of William Akers. This family moved to Pike County, MO about 1851. Some of this family, back and fore, did go to other areas of MO before 1850, some to Henry County. The William you speak of could have had a son William that was killed in action in WW1, Check that out too. I hope this helps. 1. Robert S. Aker/Wythe Co.,VA.
    2. Greetings: I am searching for any information on the parents of Robert S. Aker. (According to one family memeber, his middle name could also have been Edward. I believe he was born in Wythe Co.,Va in Mar of 1842 and died after 1912. Robert served with the 51st Va. Infantry during the civil war and was captured and sent to Ft. Delaware, (Lookout Point,MD.) Following the war, Robert married Lucinda S. Jackson on Sept 13, 1866 in Wythe County,Va. They had two daughters that we know of before she died. Margaret J. Aker and Sallie F. Aker. We believe Robert’s father was William David AKERS, Sr. born abt 1810 in Virginia, according to the 1850 Census. Robert went on to marry twice more.......Matilda Jane CARRICO 10 Aug 1881, and to Martha A. CARRICO on 20 Jan 1886 in Grayson Co,Va. His residence at one time was in the Elkcreek Township. Any information would be most appreciated and helpful.......Al Beard
