    2. Hi, I have an Arthur Akers born 1872, likely in Lawrence County, Ohio. He was son of Thomas and Agnes Akers who moved to Lawrence County, OH from Smyth County, VA. Thomas was son of William and Jincey Haynes Akers. I know Arthur was still in Ohio in Lawrence County, OH in 1900, Trumball County, OH in 1910 & 1920... He appeared to have children named Albert, Willie and Myrtle but I don't see any more ... He appears to die in 1929 which probably means he's not your Arthur. Thomas, was a much older brother to Esther Akers (my g-grandmother). What do you know about your Arthur - any estimated birth date, any of the children's names? Do you have access to ancestry.com? If not, I can do a little looking for you to see if I can help make a connection for you since Akers is my family too. 1. AKERS - WYATT Family Photograph
    2. Shelley Cardiel
    3. I've "rescued" an old photograph of Mrs. Lafayette WYATT which was taken at the Baker Studio in Cleveland, Ohio. The photograph was taken 15 June 1899 with Mrs. WYATT appearing to be in her 70's at the time it was taken. Based on limited research and thanks to the help of a WYATT Family Researcher, I believe that this is a photograph of Sophronia M. JUDD WYATT. Lafayette WYATT married Sophronia M. JUDD on 31 Dec 1857 in Portage, OH. The L. F. WYATT Family was living in Brecksville, OH during the 1860 census with records providing the following information: L. F. WYATT, age 27, a Farmer, born Brecksville, OH Sophronia M. WYATT, age 31, born Blandfordville, MA Clara L. WYATT, age 1, born Brecksville, OH Celia LOVEJOY, age 19, a Domestic, born Royalton, OH The 1870 census of Brecksville, OH also includes the family as follows: Lafayette WYATT, age 36, a Farmer, born OH Sophronia WYATT, age 40, Keeping House, born MA Clara L. WYATT, age 10, attending school, born OH Cora WYATT, age 8, born OH Alla WYATT, age 4, born OH Eleanor MEKINS, age 22, Domestic Servant, born OH Clinton TATE, age 17, Farm Laborer, born OH In 1880 the family was still living in Brecksville, OH with census records providing the following information: Lafyett F. WYATT, age 46, born OH, a Farmer, parents born OH Sophronia WYATT, wife, age 51, born MA, parents born NH/MA Clare L. WYATT, dau, age 21, born OH, at Home Cora E. WYATT, dau, age 18, born OH, Teaching School Alice May WYATT, dau, age 14, born OH, Attending School The 1900 census of Cleveland, OH includes Sophronia M. WYATT living as a boarder in the house of John AKERS (I think this is her daughter and son-in-law's that she is living with: John AKERS, age 39, born June 1860, married 2 years, born OH, parents born England, a Contractor Cory AKERS, wife, age 38, born June 1861, married 2 years, no children, born OH, parents born OH/MA S. M. WYATT, age 71, a widow, born Mar 1829, born MA, parents born NH/MA I am hoping to locate someone from the family so that this wonderful old photograph can be returned to its rightful place with family. If you are a member of this family, or know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley

    1. AKERS/ROE
    2. Does anyone on the list have any information on the following Akers family. Emma May Akers born in Kentucky in 1895. Living in 1939 in Dupont, Lancaster Twp., Jefferson Co., Indiana when her husband Samuel Roe died. She was in the 1920 Scioto Co., Ohio Census living with Samuel Roe and his wife, along with her sons Bernie (Bernard William), Willard (Jessie Willard) and Robert Akers (all born in Ohio). Between 1920 and 1930 Samuel Roe divorced his wife and Emma Mae Akers and Samuel removed to Jefferson Co., Indiana. The 1930 Jefferson Co., Indiana Census has the boys surname as Roe rather than Akers and a new son James Edward. I have obits for the sons and they are all listed as Roe. Also they all lived in the same area of Indiana so I am assuming that Emma was there also I need to find out what happened to Emma (Akers?) Roe after Samuel died. Did she remarry? To whom? When did she die? Was she married to a Akers before Roe or is her maiden name Akers? Any infomation will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance. 1. EMMA MAE ( AKERS ) ROE 7/17/2005
    2. Carleene Roe
    3. I am searching for Emma Mae Akers. Not sure if this is a married or maiden name. She had three sons listed as Akers ( Bernie, Willard and Robert ) in the 1920 Scioto Co., Ohio Census but in 1930 she and the boys was listed as Roe in the Jefferson Co., Indiana Census. She lists her birth state as Kentucky in 1895. Sometime between 1920 and 1930 she married Samuel Henry Roe and they had a child James Edward who lived in Bartholomew, Indiana. All the boys are listed as Roe's in Samuel Henry Roe's obit . I really would appreciate any an all information on this lady. The Roe's had ties to Carter, Lewis and Elliott Co., Kentucky so she might be from this area as well as Portsmouth, Scioto Co., Ohio and Dupont . Lancaster Twp., Jefferson Co., Indiana. Thank you, Carleene Roe

    1. Re: Akers from Floyd and Pike Co Ky
    2. Sorry.. relooked... I read it wrong... the grandmother was Polly (not Dolly) which is often nickname for Mary and if so, she's the wife of David Akers b. 1804. So, contrary to what ancestry.com said, this would mean Ned (b. 1895); son of Harry (b. 1867); son of ? maybe Andrew; great-grandson of David and Mary. All needs to be proven because I did this only from ancestry.com census records but it's a place to start. -----Original Message----- From: gdburnette@aol.com To: AKERS-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Wed, 13 Jul 2005 16:30:58 -0400 Subject: Re: Akers from Floyd and Pike Co Ky James, I see a Ned Akers with wife Nettie in 1930 Census of Pike County, KY. They have been married about two years at this stage and are the parents of Eugene Akers. This Ned Akers was born about 1895 and appears to be son of Harry and Cosby Akers. They were living in Floyd County, KY 1900. Other than Ned, their children were: Luemma, Laura, Andrew and Frank. There is a death record for Ned 6/6/1963 in Floyd Co which lists his age as 69 which is close to the 1895 date. What confused me is your statement he was born in 1869 (which is a bit old for a man to be having children in the 1930s ?). And you said he died Pike Co. This same Harry can be found living with his Grandmother, Dolly Akers in 1880 Pike Co, KY. I didn't look any further because I'm not sure this is your family given your stmt about 1869 and Pike Co for place of death.
