    3. I am also trying to figure out who William Akers (1776-1850) father was. I am a descendent of William Akers through his son John Clement Akers and I grew up in Iowa. Family records that have been handed down tell me that William Akers' full name was William Clement Akers (1776-1850). I have some dates to add for a few of the children. 2. Rebecca (Died 3-30-1885) 5. William (Died 4-11-1839) 6. Denmon (Died 4-4-1824) Family papers say that William Akers' (1776-1850) father was another William Akers but lists him as having been born in Germany in 1755. I do not know how accurate this is and I have not been able to substantiate it so far. I've considered the possibility that the William Clement is the son of William the veteran. I don't know if any of this helps but I will post more as I keep looking into it. --------------------------------- Be a better pen pal. Text or chat with friends inside Yahoo! Mail. See how.

    2. This all sounds very familiar. I do have a william akers in my family history. I have misplaced all my family history books though! When I find them I will send you my information! Melissa Akers -----Original Message----- From: LDickin628@aol.com To: AKERS@rootsweb.com Sent: Wed, 14 Nov 2007 10:13 am Subject: [AKERS] William Akers 1776-1850 I am new to this list & I'm hoping that someone can answer a few questions regarding the Akers family of Wayne/Pike Co.'s, PA and Hunterdon Co., NJ. I am attempting to ascertain the father of William Akers (1776-1850). William Akers (1776 NJ - 1850 Pike Co., PA) & Mary (Coe) had the following children: 1. John Clements Akers (1804-1885) to Iowa 2. Rebecca (1806-aft 1880) m. John Frederick Kayser remained in PA 3. Sibyl (1808-1888) m. John Decker remained in PA 4. Elizabeth (1811-1883) m. Frederick William Hemsted to Iowa 5. William (1813-?) no further info 6. Denman (1815-?) no further info 7. Mary (1818-1911) m. Frederick Ohl to Iowa 8. Sarah Ann (1821-?) m. Mr. Rohrbach no further info I believe William Akers (1776-1850) was the son of William Akers, a Revolutionary War pensioner. In another's research - giving a source as "The History of Wayne, Pike, and Monroe Counties, Pennsylvania; by Alfred Mathews; pub. 1886" - William (1776-1850) had siblings Elizabeth (m. John Shearer), Polly (m. Gabriel Davis) and Elsie (m. Bartle Bartleson). William (Rev War pen.) states: - "William Akers a resident of Sterling Township in the County of Wayne and State of Pennsylvania aged Ninety six years" - "went back to his home in Hunterdon County where he remained until 1778 when he removed to Pennsylvania near Stroudsburg" - "The deponent removed into Wayne County in Sterling Township the last time about ten years since and resides there now. He has children both in Penn and New Jersey and has alternately resided with them." - "The deponent was born September 7th 1736 in Hunterdon County New Jersey" - "Hunterdon County, Town of Amwell, New Jersey, being the place of his birth" - "his father brought him information of the death of his brother who was killed in the battle at Long Island" - "his brother Thomas Akers was Ensign" Also, William had a sister Alice Akers and she was represented by William Bortree, Pett Is William, who d. 1850 Pike Co., PA, the son of William, the veteran? I would be most grateful for any information or leads. 3. In the 1930 Federal Census Roy R. Akers is age 29, Katy is age 23 - Roy's first marriage was at age 22, Katy's at age 16. This would indicate they had been married 7 years (1923/24) Flavia Hodges
