AKERS was born on 11 Oct 1901 in Tazewell Co., VA and died in Raleigh Co., WV. He married Edna Unknown and had three children, Howard, Claude and Arvilla. Henry's parents were James Fielding Akers and Electra Ann Moore Akers. According to family, Henry was found dead from a gun shot in his yard by two of his children. It is not clear if it was a suicide or someone else killed him. I am hope that someone has information, an obituary or newspaper article on Henry's death. His death would have happened after 1938. Sylvester and brother Henry's names were listed. There are lots of information online and in articles about Quantrill. I first found my information from a fellow researcher. I am far from being an expert on Quantrill and his men. Apparently, Sylvester wrote his manuscript in 1909 and reprinted in 1910. Jack B. Larkin Akers, great grandson of Blackburn, born 4-9-1832, died 6-27-1922 in Rutherford, Parker County, Texas, married Mary Ann Elkins 12-4-1857 in Cass County, MO. Prior to his marriage, he traveled a lot, going around the Cape by ship and spent a winter with Apache Indians in Wagon Mound, NM. He had to fight his way out. At age 16 years, he had begun wagon trains from MO. to California and Oregon. His brother, Sylvester, born 12-6-1834 in Floyd County, Ky, died NE Independence, MO. on 10-20-1912a, married Melvinia A. Parsons on 4-15-1852. At age 17 years, he began driving across the plains. It was a 6 month round trip from MO. to Sante Fe. He rode with Quantrill throughout the Civil War and was wounded in the fight in Ky., that left Quantrill dead. He was in the raid on Lawrence, Kansas after which he showed up in Fannin Co., TX with Quantrill. He was quoted extensively by W. E. Connelly in his book about Quantrill's Raiders. They carried no rifles, only pistols ! and were all mounted. Sylvester carried four pistols. After Quantrill was killed, he was under Officer Shelby who was under General Price.
