I don't have any more information on Asahel. I wish I could tell you differently. If and when I do find information, I will surely post it. I did find a RWS pension file - George White who I believe is the father of David White (son Ira married Nancy Akers (my line)). Anyway, in the file George had listed him as Kaal Akers. I researched that name and found - nothing. I just sent in for a consultation to ProGenealogists on Asahel Akers. I can't afford anything more. Hopefully, they will be able to help jump from Alabama to Virginia. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: leeleeme Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.akers/1338/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hi all, I have come across court documents that indicate John or JEHU Akers (spelled both ways in the court records), Floyd County, Indiana was convicted of a murder that occurred on 27 Nov 1834 near Greenville, Floyd County. He was indicted on 29 Apr 1835 of shooting Jacob Fredrick and brought to trial on 4 may 1835. On 6 Nov 1835 he was ordered to hang on 18 Dec 1835. He was pardoned by the Governor (still researching date on that). His wife was Isabella Mckinley (we think but have no proof). In the court case it states she was upset as she was confined to bed having just given birth. I have searched family trees but they all state that the John Akers that marries Isabella Mckinley dies in Aug of 1835 (not documented). The court records states that he does eventually "return to Floyd" and remarries but does not list the new wife's name. All the family trees I have found show Isabella packing the kids up and heading to Iowa about Sept 1835. This apparently is oral tradition. Do any of you have information on this John Akers? The court record is very interesting to read since it way my Ancestor Alfred Sigler who set John up! Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
