I hope all is well and the research is going well. I've just come to the library to pick up my emails and found your messages. Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. While I was here and sitting next to the machine used to look up births, deaths and marriages, and it stood empty for 15 minutes, I thought I'd have a quick look in the marriage index for the marriage of Rachel Horn and John Ainsworth from the September quarter of 1882 to the March quarter of 1883, but there was no sign. There were John Ainsworths mostly with a second name, but no Rachal Horn at all, let alone one that match up with a John Ainsworth. I know the IGI has mistakes in it, but I'm wondering if Rachal was not actually Rachal's first name, or maybe, not even a registered name at all, maybe just a baptismal name given after registration? The same could go for John Ainsworth, of course, too. If you come up with anything, I'll be happy to look again and see if I can find a reference for their marriage. This might be a springboard for you onto other resourses, like parish registers. Regards Jan
