Surnames: Ainsworth, Parker, Seymore, Cook Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/HO.2ADEB/387 Message Board Post: My great grandfather was born John Elvyn Seymore, to Thomas E. W. Seymore and Margaret Ainsworth on July 25, 1890 in Valley Falls, RI (part of Cumberland, RI). According to my "family stories" his mother, Margaret, died shortly after his birth. He was adopted, at age 14 months, by Henry L. and Anna E. Cook. According to the adoption paperwork, the father consented to this adoption "the mother being dead", and John Elvyn Seymore's name was legally changed to Alvin Seymore Cook. My great grandfather died before anyone found his brother, but I'd like to make contact with any of his brother's descendant. I have since found out that his older brother's name was Alfred Ainsworth (also born in Cumberland, RI on April 01, 1887). Alfred's father was George White, so it's a good guess that he was born out of wedlock - seeing as he has his mother's surname. Alfred married Mary E. Crone (b. December 23, 1894 and d. October 17, 1992) and had two children: Alfred and Alice. Alfred (senior) died on June 24, 1966 in New Bedford, MA. I've also found out that Margaret Ainsworth was born in Lawrence, MA to John and Margaret (Parker) Ainsworth. Both were born in England and both died in Cumberland RI. Any information anyone has about this family would be greatly appreciated. Darryl
