J. D. AINSWORTH, DEAD The Bulletin is in receipt of the news of the death of Claude Ainsworth, who passed away in Omaha June 20. He is survived by his wife. Claude had been ill for a number of weeks, but it is said death came to him quickly and quietly. He was buried in Omaha. Mr. Ainsworth will be remembered by many of the older citizens of Denison. His father, J. D. Ainsworth, was at one time owner and editor of The Review. Later he went over into South Dakota and published a paper and was also connected for a number of years with the Sioux City Journay (sic). Mrs. Ainsworth, Claude’s mother, and a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Laub, conducted the old Onawa Gazette, now the Sentinel, and she was assisted by her son, Claude. After disposing of the Gazette, Claude edited a newspaper at George, Iowa, and finally moved to Omaha where he purchased an apartment building, and he and his wife had been operating this building for the past number of years.”

Martha was married to George Harvey Lewis. George Harvey Lewis was born on 9/14/33; died 3/27/89; was buried on 3/31/89 at Fort Bliss National Cemetery in El Paso, TX. Martha and George had three children: John, LaDelle, and Lucretia Harriet. Martha is my children's grandmother. I am working on my children's family tree on both their maternal/mother's side (Ainsworth/Lewis) and their paternal/my/their father's side (Ragsdale/Sheppard). Thank you very much.
My wife's Ainsworth ancestors seem to have lived for some considerable time in the Ealing/Brentford area of Middlesex, England. Not sure if it was strange for this parish but many of the names have been recorded as INSWORTH and HAINSWORTH as well as AINSWORTH. If anyone else is searching in the same area, please email me. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/HO.2ADEB/346 Message Board Post: I took a researching trip yesterday to Christian Co. Unfortunately, the trip didn't produce a lot of info, and their library will be closed for two weeks, so I couldn't view the local genealogy section. Some interesting facts I did find: My David Ainsworth married Elizabeth Garrett in 1811. I've seen othe dates for this marriage that have been a number of years off. The person who signed for her was John Garrett. That's interesting in the fact she named her first son John Garrett Ainsworth, and the first was usually named for the maternal grandfather. The next interesting fact is that they were married for the second time in 1812. There weren't any probate records that would show parentage for either person. When I went to the 1810 census for the area, William Ainsworth (Aneswirth) lived a couple of houses down from a Henry Garrett. I went back and looked at the 1810 Chesterfield Co., SC census for the Anesworth. And then the 1800 Laurens Co., SC census for William Ainsworth, and low and behold, next to him was John Garrett, along with numerous other Garrett families. I hope to go to the KY. Historical Society Library soon, maybe I can locate more info there. Tidbits I did locate: In Christian County Court Order Book "B", part 2, 1809 - 1814, it show a Richard Hicks, age 4, apprenticed to James Ainsworth. (It looks like the Hicks children were divided up into the homes of different individuals) Marriage bond for Samuel Ainesworth to Pheariba Howell 13 Nov 1816 signed by Nancy Ainesworth; then it looks like the wedding was performed on 30 Nov. 1816. Marriage bond for Joseph Ainsworth and Omia Jackson was 25 Aug. 1817. Bond for Polly Garrat and Levin Ainsworth was 23 May 1818 with Isaac Ainsworth as bondsman. In the General Index to Deeds, it lists: Book G. (1817 - 1818) James Ainsworth to Iaace D. Hargis page 169 James Ainsworth to Jas Daniel page 352 Book I (1818 - 1819) Isaac Ainsworth to John W. Cocks page 385 Hope this isn't duplicate in everyone's research. I'm still not convinced about any parentage info. Has anyone found any of these Ainsworths that might have fought in the War of 1812 for pension info. Also, I know they would have been older, but what about Civil War pension papers? I know that some researchers show Elizabeth's last name to be Garrard, daughter of William. I didn't find info on this, even in his will info. Although, he did have a son named John, could Elizabeth be the granddaughter of William? Anybody coming through this line, does anyone have any info on a Henry Garrett?
