In the hope of furthering all of our research on the Ainsworth family, I have started an Ainsworth Surname DNA project through Family Tree DNA. The purpose of this project is to ascertain if there are links between the different Ainsworth families throughout the world. Five Ainsworth men have already joined the test group. Four are in the United States and one is in England. If you would like to join the project, you can order your test kit by going to http://www.familytreedna.com/surname_join.asp?code=U83328&special=true We need men who carry the Ainsworth surname as they will be testing the Y DNA which is passed down from father to son. I am paying for one of my brothers to be the first tester. The more people that join the test group, the more useful our results will be. We hope to build a database of Ainsworths from all over the world. You can choose between a 12 marker test at the group price of $99.00, the 25 marker test at $169.00, or the 37 marker test at $229.00. If you cannot afford the higher level tests, you can upgrade to those levels at a later date. You only need to submit your DNA sample once. Family Tree DNA will retest your original sample to add the new markers to your record. I am working on setting up a web page for the results. When we begin getting results from the tests, I will post messages with links to the web page. Test results will be listed by the earliest proven Ainsworth ancestors. Your email addresses will only be given out with your permission to people who are close matches to you. You can then correspond with each other to try to determine if you can find a common ancestor. If you have any questions, please email me. Barbara Ainsworth Montgomery

That story had me very confused and many of the dates didn't seem to jive. I have been stuck for some time now trying to figure out who the parents were of Edward Ainsworth (b. 1652, died March 5, 1740 Woodstock, Connecticut). It sounds like you have some further knowledge of who Daniel and Anchor actually were to Edward. Any information you have would be greatly appreciated as I am trying to find a directly link back to England (someone in Lancashire I am sure).

I will be happy to look-up for anyone who thinks they may be a part of this family. Carol Nix nixcarol@sbcglobal.net Dear Carol, (and others on the AINSWORTH list,) Good morning. Thank you for the look-up offer. I have 2 questions. # 1: William AINSWORTH, born: Abt. 1690 in Virginia, died: 1759 in Cumberland County, North Carolina, md: Jennet(t)/Janet(t)(e)/Jeannette ?/PATTERSON, (poss. PATTISON,) born: Aft. 1690 in ?, died: ? in ?, md: Befl. 1735 in Virginia. I am very curious about this Je/(a)n(n)et(t)(e) PATTERSON, (poss. PATTISON as I have paternal 7th great grandmother of the same name of Jennet(t)/Janet(t)(e)/Jeannette ?/PATTERSON/PATTISON who was born: Abt. 1706 in Overwharton Parish, Stafford County, Virginia, died: 1752 in Westmoreland County, Virginia, who was a maid in the household of Henry CON(N)YERS until she married him as his 2nd wife, (not sure of 1st wife's name,) and then she married as the 2nd wife of Randolph "Randol" HOL(D)BROOK, (whose 1st wife was Ann STANWAY,) and they were the parents of my paternal 5th great grandmother who was Elizabeth HOL(D)BROOK who married as the 2nd wife of my paternal 5th great grandfather, (Major) Samuel EARLE, III. Is it possible that these are the same 2 Jennet/etc. PATTERSON, (poss. PATTISON,) women who married these 3 men, William AINSWORTH, Henry CON(N)YERS, and Randolph "Randol" HOLBROOK? Or, at the least, it would be a strong possibility that they were closely related...cousins possibly. Do you know anything of the one that was William AINSWORTH's wife? She appears to be as obscure as mine? # 2: My aunt, Ellen Grace MYRICK, married Almy Leon "PeeWee" AINSWORTH, (son of Mary Etta CONN, born: 1904 in Wesson, Copiah County, Mississippi, died: November 1980 in Copiah County, Mississippi, (md: Raymond RAVELL, md: Ellis BODRON and John AINSWORTH,) and John AINSWORTH, born: Abt. 1904. I did have the information on his parents and how he descends in the AINSWORTH family but a computer crash awhile back lost it. Would you have his information? Looking forward to hearing from you or anyone else regarding this information. Sincerely, Bellinda Myrick-Barnett BellindaMBarnett@aol.com

I have been on this Ainsworth list for awhile and have not gotten very many posts, and have not gotten very far on my Ainsworth family tree. I was thinking we could have some sort of roll call and find who other people on the list are looking for, maybe someone else can help. I am looking for the family of Thomas and Elsie Ainsworth who resided in Erie county New York, they are buried in Maple Lawn cemetery in Newstead, 93 and 84 years at the time of death. I believe they had the following children, Charlotte (Ruben) Glover, Hanna (Evan)Jones, And Daniel Ainsworth.I know all of these indivuals are related to Edwin and Emily Ainswroth (my third ggmother)they are said to be the children of Daniel and Susan (Rogers)Ainsworth. But I do not know how either of these families connect together, except that they are buried in the same Ainsworth plot at Maple Lawn Cemetery in Newstead. Regarding your Lott Ainsworth who married in Menard Co., TX. Our Asa Ellis and his wife Mary Ann Ainsworth moved to Menard Co., TX before 1870. Asa Ellis died there in 1883. They were on the 1850 census in Conecuh County AL. In 1860 they should be in Leon Co., TX but they are not on the census. I have not been able to place her with an Ainsworth family. Could she be related to Lott??? They were from Conecuh / Butler Co., AL.
