A couple of days ago Sandra inquired about John's wives but have been unable to get to answer until now. In my records, I only list John as being with Christine Pendleton. I have as their children: Mary, Minerva, George, Matilda (all Pendletons) but Harriett Amanda Aills Springer and James Aills (my great grandfather) were from this relationship/marriage. As most of us believe, John & Christine were never married. I have also John & unknown wife with the following children: Fanny, Levi, Lewis, and Elias. I chose not to list a wife as there was some confusion about Elizabeth from VA, Rebecca Voiers, and Mary Colvin. There was no documentation in Pike Co., OH on the marriages to Rebecca or Mary with the exception that there was a note that John had married Rebecca and Mary but no ages, nothing for confirmation. I personally could not imagine John going back to VA to marry between all these marriages. With this new connection that Sandra has it makes sense that John married Rebecca and Mary but probably not Elizabeth from VA. Hope all this makes sense. Does this lady know for sure from the Stalcup history that this is our John that married Rebecca? I agree with Sandra that the children Fanny, etc. would have to be John & Mary's children.
