Marlene, Were you looking at the email I posted on August 8, 2005, in which I shared the lookup James McDaniel did on Aills in Johnson Co.? I didn't remember anything about a George Clark Aills being mentioned in his email if you were referring to the email I sent to the list. The exact words James McDaniel said were: "However, assuming that indexes are always less than perfect, on page 7 of that book C there is an entry from the Court session of July 1844, from L. N. Clark, administrator of William Aills, deceased, against Jesse Lawther, which is dismissed. It does mention a record made "in this court" in the October term of 1840. That implies to me that William Aills died, and an estate was probated, no later than October of 1840." Mr. McDaniel does show an L. N. Clark as administrator with the language you contributed to George Clark rather than L. C. Clark. In that same email, I did say "This new information from Johnson Co., does show a George Whitfield Aills as an heir of William Aills. Is there some sort of confusion about "George Whitfield Aills as an heir of William Aills" and "....Clark, administrator of William Aills, deceased, against Jesse Lawther, which is dismissed." I read the administrator of William Aills, having the name L. N. Clark. There's a paragraph on the same email that identifies L. N. Clark as being Lorenzo N. Clark. Here's the quote: "But, the estate is often mentioned because the administrator Lorenzo N. Clark died (about 1843), and was replaced by John H. Strong, deceased about March 1849. He was followed by J. Cravens." I see nothing that leads me to believe that there was a George Clark Aills who could possibly be a son. I searched for Lawther on the Aills-l and the only two places were referenced in mail I sent to the list. Have you seen the name George Clark Aills elsewhere, or am I totally misunderstanding what you wrote when you said: "This information was in the e-mail that was sent to the list. "This new information from Johnson Co., does show a George Clark, administrator of William Aills, deceased, against Jesse Lawther, which is dismissed. I took this from the e-mail. Does this really mean George was a son?" I am confused. Help me. sandra
